He won the Conn Smythe and Selke that year so he most certainly played like an elite 1C.

Blues and Caps won the cup without high end 1C. Backstrom and ROR are very good players but neither is a high end 1C


Caps with Backstrom also another team. I don’t think you can call Backstrom a high end 1C

Not true in either case. Again, ROR won the Conn Smythe AND the Selke. As flukey as that Blues run was, he most certainly filled the role of elite 1C that season.

Also, not only was Backstrom brilliant in that Caps Cup run, so was Cokenetsov.
