Rangers fans seem to like him. Good defensive forward. Nothing wrong with that. Obviously the Riley Nash era is over, so this is an A+ replacement for the 4th line.

There's a little wrong with that, because they already have Bickell, McClement, and Nordstrom who all have a good chance to not break 20 points in the lineup.

Guilty of a bit of hyperbole there, they might get as high as 25.

Nordstrom will probably continue to get shifts next to Jordan, but otherwise that's our 4th line, right?

Stalberg - McClement - Bickell is actually a pretty respectable unit for that role.

I'm not a huge fan of Nordstrom, but he's got more than 25-point talent. And there's still nothing saying we won't acquire a legit top-6 forward and Bickell becomes the 13th guy.

Either way on paper this is easily the best 4th we've had since Adams-Adams-LaRose. After seeing what teams like the Sharks have done rolling 4 lines I definitely don't mind committing resources to that.

Jay McClement had 11 points last year. And he's only getting older and slower. A pair of 20 point underachievers on his wing aren't turning that line into anything.

visually, Stalberg looks like a guy that should produce points. He just has a bad case of stone hands. A bigger bodied, more physical version of Patty Dwyer in terms of deployment.

Yeah, it was pretty hard to believe he only had 20 points last year. He really got going in the 2nd half and definitely generates chances when he's on the ice, he just doesn't seem to produce on the stat sheet.

He's a very good bottom 6 forward. Ideally he'd be on the 4th line due to his lack of offensive production but you could definitely bump him up when need be. Extremely quick and can kill penalties. Has decent reach too and is good along the boards. I was pretty upset the Rangers didn't bring him in at this price but it made sense when they signed Grabner.

Prettymuch my line of thought. He's basically a bigger, better Dwyer for us, which is a huge ****ing improvement over Malone on that wing last year.

He's a Cup winner, won with Chicago in 2013 so there is that. Never hurts to have a Champion on the team, unless that player happens to be Kevin Westgarth.

I'll tell ya what Francis did right here: Created a little competition for a roster spot among assumed NHLers, relieving pressure on the kids to occupy those spots. PDG could be out performed and be sent down to do more work as a top-6 winger in the AHL. You know, see if he can develop a little more of the potential of a 2nd round pick. It's harder to do when you have the pressure to not **** up and guys built like freight trains are trying to obliterate you. So, we asked for proper development of prospects...here's that opportunity. The kids may out-perform Stahlberg, McClement, or Bickell, and if they do, then you hope it wasn't because the veteran sucked balls. Short of that, the cheap UFA builds competition, which hopefully leads to wins.

We have Derek Ryan there to give McClement some pressure. There's many decent players here and it's gonna be a good race in the preseason who's gonna play and where.

Teuvo could 1st liner or 3rd liner.
Nordström has a chance to keep his place with Jordan but might as well be outplayed by someone like Aho or Tolchinsky to the 4th line etc.

And I like it this way. Dadonov could be great thou but not with too many years.

i think theres one more move up the sleeve

not all 13 of these forwards will be canes by the end of august

if theres a trade to be made, one of them will go back (im hoping kucherov but thats a pipedream)

maybe edmonton is still there to be taken advantage of

I think Edmonton's closed for business til next offseason.

This year is gonna be different, this year they have a team built to make the playoffs.

*fast forward to thanksgiving* **** our defense still sucks, give Carolina a call.

What? at the draft? what do you mean you guys are still trying to make the playoffs? How do you do that?

I think the idea in Edmonton is that McDavid is going to put up 100.

I'm waiting on the day the Oilers trade McDavid to the Sunbelt. I just feel like it's going to happen eventually.
