Since it is St. Paddy's Day weekend, my roommate and I were talking about how the Leafs should wear the St. Pats jerseys tonight. This led to a discussion about when the last time the Leafs wore the St. Pats jerseys was. After trying to google it for about an hour, I'm no closer to finding out. ?

I remember this too. I'm thinking that was the last time they wore them, but I can't figure out exactly how long ago it was.

Apologies for the jersey images not being there yesterday. I had all my jersey photos hosted on webshots, which closed down and the process of rehosting and relinking them is enormous.

When I saw the traffic to the Mats Sundin post I added the photos of the St. Pats jersey to it again as well as today's entry about the St. Pats franchise history.

It was against Buffalo if memory serves me correct, my parents went to the game... I remember it cause an old timer who was there as part of the celebration had a heart attack and died during the game. Maybe the retired them due to bad luck?

On March 2, 2002, the Toronto Maple Leafs wore the green jerseys of the St. Patricks, along with brown pants and helmets, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the franchise changing their name to the Maple Leafs in a 3-3 tie against the Buffalo Sabres, led by captain Mats Sundin's two goals.

It wasn't on St.Patty's day and I believe it was the first time since the sale of the St.Pats that the jersey had been worn.
