Was thinking about this yesterday as a fellow Canadian how does Spezza go from being injured Jan 27th and in surgery by Feb 1 and back on the ice in "possible 2-3 weeks" ?

Did he go state side for all of this surgery ?

Toot sweet? Really? And any young person/athlete is going to get priority in wait times. It also doesn't hurt to have a doc like Don Chow running the show who has a ton of pull around this city.

Almost 99% sure it was. he for sure left Ottawa on a plane to get a opinion on it not sure where though.

i don't know everything with what happened obviously but here sucks for things happening quickly.

i was once talking to an ex CFLer(from Texas) at a charity pool tournament at tail gators on merivale and he told me when he got injured it was a 6 month wait to get an MRI so he went to the states and got all his medical done their.

we only got on the subject because my wife was drunk talking about sicko and comparing our health care to theirs.

States have great healthcare if you can afford it. I would like to think that Canada's healthcare would not put celebrities first over the general public. Of course I know I'm wrong...

What we need is two-tier
If you can pay for better then go for it here, don't go the States
If you can't pay go through the public system

But noooooooo, that would contravene the Canada Health Act and we WANT to pay more for less

With a two-tiered public healthcare system we would quickly have a terrible public health system combined with an unaffordable private care system.
