Reasoning - He's the future of our franchise, an extremely talented young power-forward who can take over a game with his skill and physicality. He'll be the cornerstone of the franchise for many years to come, but hasn't put up the numbers to earn a 7+M contract.

Tom Wandell
3 Years, 1.25M Per.

Reasoning - A speedy 4th liner, he's a great player for an energy line and a great piece in the bottom 6. He's also got enough offensive ability to not look completely lost when he plays in the top 6.

Ryan Garbutt
2 Years, 0.6M Per.

Reasoning - Similar to Wandell, he's a perfect guy for an energy line. Will be looked upon to add depth and grit to the team.

Colton Sceviour
1 Year, 0.575M Per.

Reasoning - Finally earning a spot in Dallas' bottom 6, this year will be very telling for his later contracts, as he's never had a long-term spot in the NHL.

Philip Larsen
2 Years, 2.0M Per.

Reasoning - Already a top 4 blueliner, he'll only be getting better as he gains experience in the NHL. This contract acts as more of a bridge contract so that he can cash in big once it expires if he hits his ceiling.

Mark Fistric
2 Years, 1.75M Per.

Reasoning - Able to throw devastating hits, he's a solid player in his own zone and has shown willingness to join and even lead the rush. A great bottom-pairing player, he adds grit, depth, and game-changing potential with his massive checks.

Jordie Benn
2 Years, 0.75M Per.

Reasoning - Replaces Pardy as the 7th defenseman. Sticks with the organization to play with his brother, Jamie, and has the potential to become a good bottom-pairing player in the future.

Richard Bachman
2 Years, 0.75M Per.

Reasoning - Having shown that he can play in the NHL, he'll back up elite goaltender Kari Lehtonen for the next two seasons until Campbell decides his fate. With the potential to become a starter, he gains experience and skill in these two years, but hasn't proved enough for a larger contract.

Avalanche Resign Ryan Suter
The Colorado Avalanche are very pleased to announce the resigning of Ryan Suter to a 12 year 90 million dollar deal. The deal will pay him 7.5 million annually and comes with a full NTC. Suter will be a mainstay on the Avs defense and will get a chance to play with fellow Americans and Olympians Stastny and Johnson. The Avs have now achieved their off-season goals of signing a top line winger and a #1 defensmen, and unless something else comes up, are most likely going to stick with the team we have.​
