One of my biggest reasons I could potentially see this team beating expectations is special teams.

Babcock for years had above average to very good special teams.

Last year we ranked 9th last on the PK. Winnik was brought back as a very good PKer and Spaling + Granberg are both noted as good PKers.

Last year we ranked 6th last on the PP. Boyes, Glencross, Parenteau have all played big roles in recent seasons on the PP. This year could be a breakout year for Rielly on the first PP unit.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't pencil in Boyes and Glencross just yet about improving their power play, because who knows if they are going to be signed. Right now they are only on pro tryout contracts.

They were ranked 6th and 9th on special teams and they were still that bad? Wow.
