Game Info (NHL.com):
Season series: The Washington Capitals swept two games against the Winnipeg Jets last season. Troy Brouwer and Alex Ovechkin each had three goals to lead the Capitals and Bryan Little had three for the Jets.
Jets team scope: After a day off Tuesday, the Jets practiced Wednesday before departing for Washington to begin a two-game road trip. Winnipeg will be without left wing Mathieu Perreault for most, if not all, of the rest of the regular season. Perreault sustained a lower-body injury in the Jets' 5-4 shootout win against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. Right wing Drew Stafford (upper body) also was injured against Edmonton and did not practice Wednesday. Stafford will accompany the team to Washington and skate Thursday to determine whether he can dress for the game. If Stafford is not able to play, defenseman Dustin Byfuglien will shift to forward. To replace Perreault on the roster, the Jets recalled forward Carl Klingberg from St. John's of the American Hockey League, where he had 15 goals and 15 assists this season. Klingberg has one goal in 10 career NHL games. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson had a maintenance day Wednesday after starting the past two games.
Capitals team scope: Washington returns to Verizon Center for a two-game homestand after a 3-1-0 road trip that finished with a 3-1 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday. The Capitals had Wednesday off after the road trip, which included three games on the West Coast. Washington returned defenseman Steve Oleksy to Hershey of the American Hockey League. Oleksy played his only NHL game of the season Feb. 14 against the Los Angeles Kings. Ovechkin's 37 goals and 17 power-play goals lead the League. Ovechkin's center, Nicklas Backstrom, leads the League with 44 assists, including 15 assists in his past 15 games. Backstrom's 60 points are second in the League, and Ovechkin's 59 points rank third. The Capitals' 27 wins when scoring first ties them with the New York Rangers for most in the League. Goaltender Braden Holtby is 6-2-0 in his career against Winnipeg. He's 5-2-1 in his past eight starts with a 1.50 goals-against average, a .947 save percentage and two shutouts.
Not sure what the correct line-up will be but this should be close
