shootouts showcase the fact that we don’t have dynamic goal scorers.

DW you are on the clock.
I don’t disagree they could use more scoring but the shootout doesn’t tell you that. The greatest goal scorer of all time is well below average in shootouts. Eric Staal was famously abysmal at it and he’s the most dynamic goal scorer in franchise history.

We are an offesnively challenged team. We have black hole lines.

Current makeup will have issues in the playoffs against the league’s top teams.

Good comments from rod. Besides for injuries calls, he is very frank in his interview discussions.

This is all true, but at the same time, we're 1-4 in the shootouts this year, with 4 goals in 20 attempts.

In 3 of the shootout losses, we went 0 for.

Rod likes to talk about how unimportant the shootout is, and he's right in some regards. But that's still points left on the table, and their performance in attempting to get those points is embarrassing.

Wouldn't need the shoot out if you scored a goal. I mean technically we did. But you know. Refs.

These are the dog days of the season. Buffalo is a meaningless opponent. No offense to the Sabres fans lurking; the Canes were the same 6-8 years ago. Combine that with some rough scheduling and that was one of the more inconsequential games of the season. The red hot Rangers were in a similar situation this evening and lost in regulation to Columbus. It doesn’t have to be more than that.

Huge props to Martin for getting them anything. His workload has been crazy difficult and he’s got them points.

Well, 4 goals in 3 games, technically. Not that that’s much better.

All we need to do is face defenses like Chicago and Arizona. Then we should start scoring again, right?
KK and Orlov along any minute to save us.

That being said we are crazy if we don't keep trashcan cat goalie. He's done more for league min salary in 4 starts than some people making 4-10x his salary in the entire season

It’s 4 points left on the table this year. It would have been 3 if TT didn’t miss by a half an inch.

WHO GIVES A SHIT?

This team isn’t in the examining points lost in the regular season business anymore. It doesn’t f***ing matter.

You're right that this year, barring an unlikely streak, one way or the other, from NYR, the Canes or the Flyers, the Metro is pretty much set at 1-2-3.

But to say "the team isn't in the examining points lost" business anymore when we won the division last year by...1 point? That's just factually wrong.

Ultimately, this game should have never gotten to a shootout. Not because of a hand pass that wasn't, but because when a team with the expectations that Carolina has placed on themselves takes the lead with 5 minutes left in the game against a team that has been as poor as Buffalo has been, that's a lead that needs to be kept.
