Mired in defeat and loss, the soul of a Maple Leafs’ fan is corrupted, fragile and cautious, seemingly reluctant to accept progression for fear of the eventual calamity. It’s a destructive cycle that swallows and consumes. Success often met with cynicism rather than elation. Expectations seemingly unattainable and setbacks encountered with a nonchalant shrug, an all too casual acceptance of mediocrity.
