Solving Michigan’s Blue Line Puzzle

Two seasons ago, Jon Merrill, Lee Moffie, Mac Bennett, and Jacob Trouba were all wearing maize and blue. Now, three of them have landed NHL level contracts from their respective clubs, and two of them have become NHL regulars with Michigan becoming a more distant memory by the day.

With Mac Bennett agreeing to a two-year entry level contract with the Montréal Canadiens just before commencement this past April, the Wolverines have a gaping hole on the blue line. Solving this problem seems to look bleaker by the day, as Michigan now has only Mike Chiasson, Michael Downing, Brennan Serville, Spencer Hyman, Nolan De Jong, Kevin Lohan, and Mike Szuma to rely on.
