He's good, but it's not like Janmark would be a major difference maker on Detroit.

Probably true but its just one of those cautionary tales that you shouldn't give up too many future assets for rentals especially not when you're not really a contender . Dallas did the same thing in the mid 2000's . Pretty much just giving away young players and picks for maybe one last shot for Zubov , Modano and Lehtinen to do something in the playoffs but not actually adding anyone good.

Ladislav Nagy for a first rounder was the worst one that comes to mind.

Well, this is just flat-out untrue. People were much more concerned about Mattias Backman and swapping the 2nd for a 3rd.

And while the 25 year old is having a pleasantly surprising nice start to his NHL career, he currently tops out at 29 points in a season. Good for him, looks like he's going to have an NHL career, but let's not act like Holland gave up some superstar just yet

29 was his rookie year. He has already equaled that and is on pace to give us a 20-20 season with limited PP time and solid PKing. He's a pretty clear cut 2LW which is pretty good for a prospect that was essentially written off

We got a second rounder ( Roope Hintz ) for a third ( Vili Saarijarvi) . Giving up the Third was conditional but since Cole went out injured pretty much instantly that condition was never going to be fullfilled
Oops my bad thought we gave them a 2nd
