To start off our team, we will be announcing our leadership group for the year.

Captain - Mark Giordano - Selected from the Carolina Hurricanes
Alternate Captain - Logan Couture - Selected from the San Jose Sharks
Alternate Captain - Anders Lee - Selected from the New York Islanders

All 3 of these guys were the Captain of their respective teams last year, and it is a big deal for our organization to come away with that kind of leadership from this expansion draft.

Rest of team to follow shortly.

North Division Selections

:flames - Chris Tanev

:edmonton - Oscar Klefbom

:habs - Jake Allen

:sens - Filip Gustavsson

:leafs - Travis Dermott

:nucks - Braden Holtby

:jets - Pierre-Luc Dubois

From the North Division, we are pleased to add our 3 goaltenders we will be moving forward with this year. Allen and Holtby will split starts while Gustavsson gets lots of starts in the minors.

We have also added 2 quality veteran defenseman to our top-4 in Klefbom and Tanev. Dermott will be our #7 to start the year as his youth and ability to play either side well is a big asset to us.

After wearing out his welcome in Columbus (and apparently Winnipeg too...), we are thrilled to add a young top-6 C to our organization in PLD. Hopefully he thrives with the fresh start in Seattle and can become a core piece and one of the faces of the franchise for us.

East Division Selections

:bruins - Ondrej Kase

:sabres - Will Borgen

:devils - Janne Kuokkanen

:isles - Anders Lee "A"

:rangers - Julien Gauthier

:flyers - Phillipe Myers

:pens - Brian Dumoulin

:caps - T.J. Oshie

From the East Division, we have added a nice mix of leadership and youth.

As stated before, we are pleased to welcome an important top-6 player to our leadership group in Anders Lee. Oshie and Dumoulin are both previous Stanley Cup Winners as key cogs to their team, and they will be for ours as well.

We will give many of these young players chances to make the team, but most will get lots of valuable AHL minutes to start. Kase and Myers are expected to play a role in our starting lineup and provide some youth, while Borgen, Kuokkanen and Gauthier will enter the lineup after some seasoning.

Central Division Selections

:canes - Mark Giordano "C"

:hawks - Brandon Hagel

:cbj - Boone Jenner

:stars - Denis Gurianov

:wings - Michael Rasmussen

:panthers - Carter Verhaeghe

:nashville - Yakov Trenin

:bolts - Cal Foote

From the Central, we have added our Captain, Mark Giordano, as well as a lot of young, role players.

Gurianov was a guy we didn't expect to be available but will be a big part of our top-6. And after the year he is having, we are going to give Verhaeghe a chance to repeat in the same top-6 role too in Seattle.

Jenner is a versatile player who will be a key part of our bottom-6 having proven success in that role. Hagel and Trenin will also contend for time as lesser known guys we think can really turn heads.

Rasmussen and Foote add 2 big pieces to our prospect pool and will start in the AHL but are expected to get NHL time this season.

West Division Selections

:ducks - Kevin Shattenkirk

:coyotes - Tyler Pitlick

:avs - Ryan Graves

:kings - Carl Grundstrom

:wild - Marcus Foligno

:sharks - Logan Couture "A"

:blues - Ivan Barbashev

From the West, we have selected another one of our Captains, Logan Couture, who should form a formidable 1-2 punch down the middle along with Dubois.

Shattenkirk brings some puck moving ability and offense to our back end in a top-4 role. We have also filled out most of our bottom-6 here with gritty, two-way players in Pitlick, Foligno, Grundstrom and Barbashev.

Graves gets the honour of being the 1st ever Kraken player to be traded, but we thank him for his very short time here and wish him luck in Vancouver.

Feel we have drafted a team that can compete year 1 with a good mix of leadership, experience, youth and depth.

Through trades, we have also added 2 extra 2021 1sts, a solid prospect in SDA and another 2022 2nd.

Goaltending is probably our biggest weakness but we have a great defensive group of D that should make it easier, That being said, we are in the market for a starting goalie for the right price (including a non-Seattle 2021 1st).
