Nikolai was given his current contract as a reward for going above and beyond in his attempts to overcome his injuries. I don't know if I've heard of any player who was more proactive and determined in there approach to rehabilitation. Regardless of if he becomes a full-time NHLer or not, this is a man who deserves the utmost respect.

I wish him the best of luck moving forward.

This is heartbreaking. It wasn't just injuries themselves either, I believe he developed post-op infections multiple times on top of the lengthy healing processes.

That sounds like the job description. In reality that does not appear to be the case.

I'd imagine the bulk of them do just that. Sadly, there are those who act like thought police; with no consequence for their actions.
