What a load of ******** :laugh::laugh:

During Ovechkin's peak/prime when he was the best player in the World (07-08, 08-09, 09-10) he did not benefit greatly due to PP especially in comparison with Crosby.

Here are some facts, backed with actual evidence.

2007-08 Ovechkin led the league in Even Strength Goals (41) and Even Strength Points (73).

2008-09 Ovechkin led the league in Even Strength Goals (34) and was second in Even Strength Points (61), Malkin was first with 68

2009-10 Ovechkin led the league in Even Strength Goals (37) and was second in the league in Even Strength Points (73) behind Sedin, that season he had more Even Strength Goals and Even Strength Assists than Crosby, and Ovechkin played 10 less games than Crosby.

Heck, even when Ovechkin began regressing, in 2010-11 he was 5th in the league in Even Strength Points (58, 4 behind first).

Remain seated champ.

P.S in Crosby's best ever season points wise (2006-07) when he had 120 points, only 59 came at Even Strength (Which put him 10th at Even Strength Points).

Might want to check out 5v5 scoring, it has almost never been close:

Ovechkin: http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/showplayer.php?pid=527

Crosby: http://stats.hockeyanalysis.com/showplayer.php?pid=459

Crosby has had a significant lead to say the least in all but one season (09-10) where he only lost by .05 P/60. It should be noted that Ovie spent significant time on a dominant line with Semin and Backstrom, and if you were to look at his production without those two at the same time, it would be vastly inferior to Sid's once again. In contrast, Crosby spent that year with Kunitz and the corpse of Bill Guerin.

For those who don't want to look at the links, during Ovechkin's peak (07-10), Crosby at 5v5 scored 3.14 points per 60 minutes. OV scored 2.87 (tied for 2nd in the NHL with Henrik Sedin and Radulov). A low end 1st liner would be at around 2.0 P/60.

Let the back pedal begin
"He has always been a significantly inferior player to Crosby at even strength. Ovechkin's stats benefited greatly from the PP"

From those stats, from 2007-08 to 2009-10

Ovechkin had 175 ES points in 233 games =0.751 ESP Per Game
Crosby had 158 ES points in 211 games = 0.748 ESP per Game

Ovechkin
1st in the NHL in Even Strength Goals and Even Strength Points in 07-08
1st in the NHL in Even Strength Goals, 2nd in Even Strength Points in 08-09 (Malkin 1st)
1st in the NHl in Even Strength Goals, 2nd in Even Strength Points in 09-10 (Sedin First)

Ovechkin's stats sure benefited greatly from the PP, he was nothing more than a PP specialist

So Rads was a top 5 forward in the world then? Thank you, I'll show this to everyone who will argue that Radulov couldn't be an elite 1st liner these days.

But man, how far can you go to overhype Crosby  Do PP goals and points not count? 4v4? 4v3? It's Crosby's problem that Ovechkin was better in non-5v5 situations and played more.

And yes, Ovechkin was the best player in the world 07-10. OP asks a strange question. People also love to say "65 goals", but he was much better in the 2009-10 season. He wasn't the same after the Olympics and still ended up with 50 goals, 109 points (120+ point pace) and +45.

He has always been a significantly inferior player to Crosby at even strength. Ovechkin's stats benefited greatly from the PP and generous amounts of ice time.

What?

He had 10 more in 29 more games in 07-08, Crosby would had 5 more then him at his pace. 08-09, Ovechkin had 6 more in 2 more games, but also 7 more points. 09-10 Ovechkin had 2 more PP points in 10 less games and 10 seconds less ice time per game.

Overall I have no idea how better conditioning is a negative in a sport.
