Shouldn't we have signed Players by now?

I hope Slats didn't run out of Cigars! He needs them to hide his special smoke he has on free agency day.

Oh god everyone is going to take all our UFA's, PANIC PANIC

all those UFAs are going to be massively overpaid.

Boyle turns it on in the post season, but whatever team he goes to has to pretty much get there without him.

Pouliot had a career year, mainly through Zuc and Brass spoonfeeding him pucks for him to bash in the net.

Our top D pair is settled for 4-5 years with Girardi and McD, whether we like it or not. Therefore, We're not gonna pay Stralman top pair money like another team will. We also don't need to gamble on whether he can play top pair minutes for the entire year.

My 2 cents.

We will sign Dom Moore.

No we're blowing up a contending team just like we did two years ago. Welcome to Sathertown.

We'll be left with a bunch of inexperienced kids, and MSL will feel like a gramp. I blame Rick Nash for this.

We were a little lucky to get back here two years later. Stralman turned into a dream signing. We gained Kreider during that time. Zuccarello went from an AHL player to our best player. Who is making that kind of impact this time?

So zucc and kreider are not on this team anymore? wtf man? They're RFAs. They're staying. They will continue to produce. Kreider will get better and better.

Who knows who's gonna step up? That's why they play the games. Anthony Duclair? ****ing lit it up in the QMJHL. Brady Skjei? One of our free agent signings?

*edit- and saying we've been lucky to make it that far shows what a terrible ranger fan you really are.

The RFAs tend to linger...

UFA guys want too much money. It's all about identifying alternatives that work out better..

Saying the Rangers have been lucky doesn't make him a terrible fan, it makes him honest. The Rangers were not the best team in the East and shouldn't have been where they were, if we're being honest. That roster was your typical Rangers "lose in the 2nd round" roster that you can "build on" but in truth is Sather not realizing how to build a team and screwing up the little progress he's made.

Paying Zuc and Kreider means the cap space is screwed for next year, unless it jumps up significantly. It means we can't pay to have 4 great defensemen and a 4th line that's better than serviceable. MSL coming off the books at the end of the year will free up some cap space but do you trust Sather to do the right thing with it? I don't.

Personally, I don't want to see this team sign a single UFA and instead they should just promote from within. I think Lindberg, Fast, Duclair, Miller, and Haggerty deserve serious looks. Maybe Dom Moore but the money he'll get on the open market isn't what we can pay him.

We were lucky that we blew up a conference finalist in 2012 and had several guys step up to replace what we lost. Kreider and Zuccarello will stay but they can't replace what were losing they already did that two years ago.

Maybe we get lucky again and Duclair and Skjei become reliable core players immediately. Probably not. We won a game of roulette two years ago, and now Sather is playing it again.

The team itself wasn't lucky to get as far as it did, but Sather was sure as hell lucky when he traded a great team and had a better team fall into his lap.

There's no guarantee our farm is ready to replace pieces we're letting walk out the door. It's a gamble; a gamble there's no reason to take.
