Without looking up career numbers and accomplishments I'd say yes to Stoudemire and Kemp but probably no to the rest.

  • Amar'e Stoudemire - No
  • Kevin Johnson - Yes
  • Shawn Marion - No
  • A.C. Green - No
  • Horace Grant - No
  • Chauncey Billups - Yes
  • Shawn Kemp - No
  • Marques Johnson - No
Wouldn't be offended at all by Stoudemire or Kemp getting in though.

I just can't see KJ being in ahead of Kemp who was a true star in the 90's while KJ wasn't. Just going off memory tho and I was kid then.

Edit - Looks like KJs best years were before I started following basketball closely. I can see him being in after looking at his career numbers.

Am I right when I say the basketball HOF is easier to get into than the HHOF?
Probably because the voters in basketball are more progressive than the conservative BBWAA. I also think that peak/prime has the bigger importance in the NBA while MLB focuses more on consistency and longevity. Tim Lincecum would have a chance at the HOF if he was an NBA player.

None of these players where superstars. All stars yes, but never reached hall of fame status. None of them really set themselves apart from other really good players imo. If I were to give it to one of them it would probably be Billups because of the Finals MVP but other than that they should all be in the Hall of pretty good.

Fairly easy nos for me:

Amare and KJ: No, if they were healthier they could have made it, but would've been in the bottom half of HOFs anyway so being washed by like 31 puts them out.

Marion: Another limited longevity player as never the same after leaving the Suns, still decent on Heat and Mavs title team but not close to HOF.

AC Green: Not a good enough player

Marques: Underrated player but another guy who was done by his 30s and 80s are stacked for SFs

Kemp: Probably would've been borderline anyway, but another player missing a few more good years

Debateable:

Grant: would normally not be a HOF talent but being the 3rd best guy on a threepeat team is pretty meaningful, and is overall an underrated impact player.

Would put in:

Billups - Longevity was ok and he was a high level player ahead of his time with his 3s and free throws game. His team success pushes him over the edge with Finals MVP and another finals appearance.

Yes, there are less players in the NBA and the history is not as long.

Here's the problem with putting borderline all-stars in the Hall of Fame because they happened to be on the right team at the right time...

Worthy age 21 - 31 (28404 minutes)
18 PER, .566 TS%, 52 OWS, 29.2 DWS, 81.2 WS, .137 WS/48, 2.2 OBPM, 0.0 DBPM, 2.1 BPM, 29.6 VORP

Marion age 21 - 30 (28020 minutes)
20.4 PER, .546 TS%, 52.5 OWS, 46.8 DWS, 99.3 WS, .170 WS/48, 2.4 OBPM, 1.3 DBPM, 3.7 BPM, 40.4 VORP

But because Worthy was lucky enough to have been drafted by a team that featured 2 of the top 10 players of all time, he gets to be in the Hall of Fame?

Only superstars should be in the hall of fame for this very reason.

Yet another example of the problem with putting a borderline all-star in the Hall of Fame because they were on the right team at the right time...

Eddie Jones age 24 - 31 (20007 minutes)
18.2 PER, .560 TS%, 39.1 OWS, 27.9 DWS, 67.0 WS, .161 WS/48, 2.4 OBPM, 1.8 DBPM, 4.1 BPM, 30.7 VORP

Johnson was accused of sexual assault and harassment back in 2015 so I doubt he is getting in anytime soon.

Amar'e does have 1x first team 4x 2nd team but outside of his first year in NYC his numbers tanked when he left Phoenix/Nash.

Didn't Kobe get in on his first year on the ballot?

I'm curious to see what the vote percentage was, but I couldn't find anything through a Google search

For one he was cleared; Johnson has not been AFAIK. His thing kind of fizzled out but it still hangs over him.

Also, Kobe had an ironclad case for the HOF and to be a first ballot inductee. There was nothing that was going to keep him out.

I don't think Kobe was cleared, he just settled with the victim/accuser.

Agreed. Kobe was so obviously a first ballot HoFer there was no vote.

All charges were dropped against him. It's extremely common for rich celebrities to pay people to be quiet and means nothing.
