They are similar. League has specific guidelines as to size and curve of the blade. As someone mentioned earlier if a player thinks stick x is better there is nothing stopping him from using it.

There's no stick that's objectively better than others. Different flexes and lengths have their advantages and disadvantages, and in the end it's up to the player to be comfortable with his stick.

No. Why should some players be penalized by having to use an uncomfortable stick while others get it just right? I like the fact that there are certain regulations, but players get to choose their own. This is the MOST fair way.

Yes. Very unfair. All players should be made to use a stick that is exactly 5'7" and a 93.7 flex with a low kick point. Let's just rid of curves all together. Its unfair that the players can use a curve to help them shoot.
