He's 34 that contract is brutal

Having a top pair RHD on a $4M cap hit while your rival team has to eat the same amount of cap for NOT having that same top pair RHD is brutal indeed... for Montreal. Kerfoot and Johnsson are middle six forwards the only use of whom is to flip them to some other team for some more 2nd rounders. Garbage offer.

He doesn’t speak for all leafs fans lol

Toronto: Weber 50% retained

Montreal: Rasmus Sandin, Alex Kerfoot and 1st 2021

that’s a more fair offer. Sandin has tremendous value and is exactly what habs need he projects to be a number 1 guy and is already effective in the NHL.

leafs say no. Sandin is gonna be a top 4 dman for a long, longtime. Weber is 35 this summer

tossing in kerfoot AND a 1st on top is laughable

. terrible counter

Look at cap number vs actual cash number. Actual cash next 2 years 6m a year. Following year 3m. last 3 years 1m. Weber will either play 2 or 3 years and then retire. And Nashville is on the hook for the cash not MTL.

so what you are saying is weber has a couple years left and someone countered with kerfoot, sandin, and a 1st?

lol.

They get out of half of Webers contract. This is close to the Phaneuf deal if not better.
They get out of a contract but have to retain an entire player worth of salary and then have to fill his spot too. They might as well keep him til LTIR

Toronto
:leafs

Weber, Shea $3,957,143 ($3,900,000 retained)
Weal, Jordan $1,400,000

:habs

Kerfoot, Alexander $3,500,000
Johnsson, Andreas $3,200,000
Der-Arguchintsev, Semyon ($783,333)
2020 2nd rounder

Bargin Bin would laugh at Dubas. I know he likes his smurfs too but that is a bit much. In before it’s locked. Wow this is bad for MTL.

Kerfoot holds little value and that offer was Weber at under $4 million per and he’s owed less dollars verse cap hit too. Toronto might be the last team to GAF about that but Weber at sub 4 million is still worth a lot. The first mentioned isn’t even this year and would be expected to be a later first rounder. Sandin is the key piece and I understand not wanting to move him but acting like this is highway robbery is disingenuous

Are you being serious? The cap recapture is against Nashville and retaining 50% on an $8 million cap for 6 years is pure asinine when offer is little in return. Phaneuf was garbage and Weber is still a top pairing guy and clearly Montreal’s #1 da f@:& dude seriously

And We got dead cap for what, 6 more years while you guys enjoy the big #1 RHD for ~ 3 more years at not even 4M a year?

You’re out of your mind

Except Weber is still a pretty good no.1 D and his contract is not a problem at all, considering cap recapture if he is retiring early due to injuries.

Matthews,Marner,Rielly,Tavares easily..then probably Nylander as well

lay off the garbage takes
well those assets are clearly worth more than weber, so he is not wrong. if he meant, that there is no single player on toronto's roster close in value to weber I could agree with. the player mentioned by you are more valuable and the rest of the roster doesn't get you weber. weber @50% is as valuable as rielly or nylander, but i don't see either side to pull the trigger. weber doesn't fit toronto from an age perspective and nylander and rielly aren't worth their cap hit plus the retention money on weber.
