Two warriors, two guys with a combined 376 fights at the NHL level have their fight broken up moments into the scrap when Thornton loses his helmet. Needless to say Thornton wasn't happy with the fight being broken up...

This is starting to get pathetic.

I understand it when it is players like Iginla and Phaneuf who are 'stars' but these guys? Come on, this is their way of playing hockey. Pathetic.

Typical Neil. Only decides to go with a real fighter when he knew the linesmen were going to break it up.

I hope more linesmen start getting popped from stopping fights. It wasn't even a mutual decisions by the linesmen. One just decided to jump in the middle. A player is gonna get really hurt when a linesman ties him up and the other guy isn't yet.

They stepped in the second a helmet popped off.
Might be something to watch for whether that's now a thing?

If they are going to step in there why even let them throw a punch? Step in when they drop the gloves. :shakehead

Just let them fight.

I think it was because the helmet came off... still annoying though. If they want to fight then let them fight.

If linesmen are being told to do this now, then we might as well consider fighting to be over and done.

You can't play without a visor
You can't take your helmet/visor off before a fight
You can't fight if the other guy takes off your helmet/visor
=
Don't bother, you're just banging your knuckles on plastic.

Not that I want to see that happen but hopefully one gets popped sooner than later so they can stay out of it.

You do realize that will only make matters worse. The NHL is squeezing players who primarily fight out of the league. The league needs linesmen more than they need fighters. I would love to see the players take action. I'd love to see two teams simultaneously drop their gloves and just skate around the rink during a nationally televised game.
What's the worst thing that can happen? A fine?

Either that or they go back to punching with gloves on and things get worse from that.
