Mods should sticky this. He was a notable player who was a top 6 centre for much of his career then a defensive specialist and he had multiple 50+ point seasons, probably would have been one more if not for the 2004 lockout plus a long time NHL captain.

He was an absolute beast for the Oilers in 2006, all the way to the SCF. His career went out like a wet fart but that's way she goes.

Wasn't his fault Kevin Lowe went full ****** and offered him that kind of money....Horc was a solid player for just about his entire tenure as an Oiler.

I think people forget how good Horcoff was playing when he signed that contract. The amount of money he was offered was high but it really wasn't that outrageous for what you were getting.

He busted his shoulder up(at the all star game) not 2 days after the ink was dry and his hands/shot were never the same.

A trooper, a model citizen, a quality human being, and a heck of a good hockey player for a long time.

Captain Horcoff will be missed. A shame he doesn't get his name etched on hockey's highest honour, but only the few do.

That shoulder injury in 2008 really screwed his career. He was lighting it up and after that year he just declined. Had some great years though. Had a tough, tough, job and did so without complaint.

Never a fan of Horcoff. I feel bad for Hemsky that Horcoff was his center for over half of his career.

Excellent player during his 2005-2008 peak before that injury. His time as an Oiler went a tad sour after that, but he was a great soldier and by all accounts an exemplary captain. Best of luck in retirement Shawn!
