Didn't realize he was still playing, he is a Grade A "what could have been" story
You kinda wonder if he'd have been better coming in now when the league doesn't treat a positive pot drug test worse than domestic violence, but he was also a guy who wasn't just some recreational user. Pot is a pretty benign drug for most folks, but he was truly addicted.

Yeah that is even crazier, I thought he was on like a 1yr 5M deal, didn't know he signed for 5/70 just last year

He had the exact same contract from the cowboys already agreed to in principal
but they put in wording about the contract being voided or the guaranteed money for marijuana or arrests at the very last minute.

so he bailed and signed with he broncos

Perfect landing spot, SF seems to get the most out of defensive linemen. I bet he’s a good contributor for them.

Chandler Jones got $32 mill for playing just 1 season. Cut already. LV Could have walked away and saved $8.5 mill on a roster bonus had they said goodbye in March. Limit the damage to $23.5 mill and eaten an 8 figure dead cap charge.
Any wonder why they are the bottom 2 teams in the AFC West?

Im happy SF took the contract

but why?
this screams more "taking him so someone else doesnt get him" type of deal

Over the cap has Gregory as under a $1.1 mill cap charge to SF

All guaranteed money done after this season. SF going to cut him when the season is done. They are not paying him $13.7 mill next season.

So this means the Broncos are spending several million in cap space to move their 7th rounder up ~15-20 spots. Ok.
Have to make your moves in the off-season. Most in-season moves typically mean the team is eating contract. Remember when Cleveland ate like 2/3 of Baker's 5th year option to move him? I think Carolina ate most of CMC's salary for 2022 year, now SF is responsibility for all of the base salary and any roster bonuses.
