COVID-19 has brought big changes
This deadline could bring one of the teams the Stanley Cup.
A greedy team could lose the Stanley Cup chances. :(

For example:
Edmonton - Toronto series.
These teams have the resources they need.
There is an opportunity to free up space in the salary ceiling.

TOR
Palmieri (@ 50% Ret)
Savard (@ 50% Ret)
Foligno (@ 50% Ret)

Bernier (@ 50% Ret)
Other players from the list are possible.
EDM composition remains the same.

What are the rates? :)

Think back to the other Stanley Cup favorites.
Whether to strengthen the squad or not, it will be up to each team to decide.

The favorite or the outsider will win - only time will tell.

Hall (@ 50% Ret) 1st is a risk. But you can hit the jackpot.
The future of DeAngelo?

The cost of some hockey players is too high.

Who will be the winner of the deadline?

We stock up on popcorn.
where is toronto going to find the money to fit those 3 under the cap even at 50% retained and i know leafs are not trading their top 2 prospects its just a smoke screen,

where is toronto going to find the money to fit those 3 under the cap even at 50% retained and i know leafs are not trading their top 2 prospects its just a smoke screen,

The easiest option:

Kerfoot $ 3,500,000
Andersen $ 5,000,000
Total - $ 8,500,000

Palmieri (@ 50% Ret) - $4,650,000
Savard (@ 50% Ret) - $4,250,000
Foligno (@ 50% Ret) - $5,500,000
Bernier (@ 50% Ret) - $3,000,000
Total - (@ 50% Ret) - $ 8,700,000

The difference is $ 200,000
.
Do you think this can be fixed? :)
If you keep the two best prospects, Toronto has resources for exchange.
Good luck.

I'd be interested in Dzingel. Maybe something around Kassian + Benson/Caleb Jones? I'd imagine Ott can eat that cap for a few years and get a guy ready to make the jump next year to grow with their young core.

Rather keep Dzingel or trade him for draft picks. Melnyk will not eat cap for a few years, especially for a middling return.

As a ducks fan I think manson and Rakell should be switched, unless rakells ubi is worse than it seems.

Leafs would end up paying a very high price to get that much cap relief / consideration. Sure, they could do it, but they'd be trading a lot of good futures.

I agree with you.

I didn't write that it would be inexpensive.
I solved the problem from a financial point of view.
This can be done if Toronto so desires.
This will increase Toronto's chances of winning the Stanley Cup.
Perhaps will strengthen the position of Kyle Dubas
Good luck.

You're dreaming.

Leafs don't have the excess assets to acquire all those players at 50% retained.

Seems a bit like Toronto pandering media, I am guessing many teams have prospects up for grabs why mention the leafs only
This one time, I don't think it is Leaf pandering.

I think it's because Dubas has explicitly said "We are looking/open to trade a top prospect."

Vs.

Other GMs saying "We're open to making a move that improves the team." Which doesn't necessarily mean a "top prospect" but could be anything.

I'd expect the Kings to become sellers having fallen out of the playoff race. In particular, Iafallo (ufa), Kempe (on a great contract) and Vilardi (up and down play) should be considered. Think the Kings would want a draft pick from 2018 to 2020 who has shown much promise since being drafted (i.e. Madden last trade deadline from the Canucks). Such as a defensemen who can move the puck with a little bit of growl would be a plus.

Otherwise, Manson is someone I'd be pumped to have on the Kings. Sadly don't think the Ducks would trade him to the Kings (division rival). Would have to be a deal like how the Kings sent Martin Jones to Boston and then Boston shipped him to the Sharks. It would be expensive for the Kings, like a 2022 1st (top 4 protected), not this years 1st.

Sub Bobby Ryan for Foligno. Much cheaper & UFA also. More production, better ppg, better pts/60 etc. + RHS. Both glue guys/leadership vets etc. 50% negotiable & you save an asset too!

A bold one-sided statement. A bit like a court decision. The verdict is delivered, the electric chair is ready to go.
In life, things are a little more complicated.
I'm not afraid to be wrong. I am not ashamed of this and am ready to admit my mistakes. In this case, I do not see an error.
(You can see that comment # 33 was not edited).
Here are some excerpts from my comment # 33:
“This deadline could bring one of the teams the Stanley Cup.

After I was asked: “where is toronto going to find the money to fit those 3 under the cap even at 50% retained”
I answered this question in comment # 54 from a financial point of view.
Here are some excerpts from my comment # 54:
The easiest option:

Kerfoot $ 3,500,000
Andersen $ 5,000,000
Total - $ 8,500,000

Do you think this can be fixed?"

Now you are saying that this is unrealistic.
I will answer in terms of Toronto resources. It's easy for me.
They wrote to me that we need to keep two young players.
My guess is: Nicholas Robertson and Rasmus Sandin.
If I'm wrong, just substitute your names.
The show begins!
Remember: Kerfoot and Andersen.
Toronto has:
Draft Picks: 1st, 2nd, 4th (2021) & 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th (2022).
Team Prospects:
Prospect A
Rodion Amirov
Prospects B:
Timothy Liljegren, Filip Hållander, Joey Anderson, Joseph Duszak, Alexander Barabanov, Mikhail Abramov….
There are others.
There is no need to argue about them. Designation - Prospect A, B conditional.

TOR

Savard (@ 50% Ret)
Foligno (@ 50% Ret)
CBJ
Amirov
+ Liljegren + Prospect B + Prospect B

TOR

Palmieri (@ 50% Ret)
NJD
1st 2022
+ Prospect B + Prospect B.

TOR
Bernier (@ 50% Ret)
DET
1st 2021
+ Prospect B + Prospect B + Kerfoot + Andersen

I didn't write draft picks: 2nd, 4th (2021) and 2nd, 3rd, 4th (2022).
This is a reserve. You can add to any transaction, or replace any part with them.

Each trade has a valuable asset: Amirov, 1st 2021, 1st 2022.
The compensation is approximate. This is a 75% deal template.
You can see that the deals are real.
Somewhere you can add, somewhere to subtract. Swap parts of the compensation.
Do I think this is the perfect deal for Toronto? Of course no.
In commentary # 33, I wrote:
“For example: Edmonton - Toronto series.
Other players from the list are possible.
The cost of some hockey players is too high”.

“For example” - Is there something incomprehensible here?
“Other players from the list are possible”. - Perhaps the phrase is difficult to understand?

I wrote in other comments that Toronto needs to be preserved:
Robertson, Sandin, Amirov, Liljegren.
Tried to trade the "face of the Toronto franchise" - Nylander !!!
Many cheaper exchanges for problem areas can be carried out.
I have repeatedly written that Toronto's main problem is the goalkeeper.
Including before the start of the season.
There are two disabled people at the gate.
Minimum requirements: G, D, LW, 3C.

I am writing a cheaper option
For example:

DET

Kerfoot $ 3,500,000
1st, 2nd, 4th (2021).
Prospect B + Prospect B.
2nd (2022).
+???

TOR

Stecher $1,700,000 (@ 50% Ret)
Bernier $3,000,000 (@ 50% Ret)
Glendening $1,800,000 (@ 50% Ret)
Ryan $1,000,000
Total: $ 4,250,000

The difference is $ 750,000
Capfriendly - TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS projected cap space: $ 485,162
I hope I don't need to explain how the $ 264,838 can be compensated.

Remaining in the team: Robertson, Sandin, Amirov, Liljegren.

Hopefully there are no questions popping up here.
Other players from the list are possible.
The exchange can be with other clubs !!!

The deal may include - Andersen $ 5,000,000
The amount of compensation is approximate. It is necessary to show that it exists.

I wrote “Perhaps will strengthen the position of Kyle Dubas”
If you do not agree that deals are possible - argue this.
I wrote “COVID-19 has brought big changes”
You wrote "this is definitely a pipe dream, it will never happen like this ...".
I may ask with the data, for what period of time do you locate?
Interested in the actions of general managers of NHL teams in the context of COVID-19.
In the face of problems with the salary ceiling.
How many deadlines do you cite as an example? Maybe five, ten?
Good luck to you.:)

You have read a very long comment. :(:help::popcorn:
I wonder if I have set a record on the forum? Thanks to everyone who did not give up and read to the end. This comment had a specific purpose. I want to use it as an example and template.
When I write seriously, I try to take into account the financial aspects and the capabilities of the teams in the proposed transactions. I will copy the link to this page and use it if necessary. I don't have the opportunity to write such a novel every time.
Good luck to everyone who has read this book. :):):)

Do you expect Dubas to be fired after another early exit?

I am not saying this, but it is possible.
There were articles on this topic in the sportsset and tsn. I believe that Dubas has made many mistakes in recent years. A lot has changed this year.
In autumn I wrote that I consider Dubas' work in the offseason to be the best. :)
The only serious drawback I called the problem of the goalkeeper. Eliminated team weaknesses. You need to consider the salary ceiling for each team. Accordingly, the possibilities are also different.
Unique chance in the Stanley Cup. He can go all-in.
How it will actually be - I do not know.

Dubas can solve the salary cap problem (Kerfoot + Andersen = $ 8,500,000). If Toronto needs it.
Dubas has resources for exchanges. The club does not need to be deprived of the future.

(For more details - comment # 65).

There's no need to make a bad deal.
Check out an example of a deal with Detroit.

“I wrote in other comments that Toronto needs to be preserved:
Robertson, Sandin, Amirov, Liljegren”.

I wrote – “Other players from the list are possible”.
“This deadline could bring one of the teams the Stanley Cup.
A greedy team could lose the Stanley Cup chances”.
”Minimum requirements: G, D, LW, 3C”.
“The exchange can be with other clubs !!! “

Palmieri (@ 50% Ret) exchanged. He's part of the exchange. The exact price for it is unknown. Approximately within the framework that I indicated. A bit cheaper.
You will see other exchanges as well. It will be clear that I was not suggesting the impossible.

To fix Toronto problems (“Minimum requirements: G, D, LW, 3C”).
it is enough to lose Draft Picks: 1st, 2nd, 4th (2021) & 2nd, 3rd, (2022) + Team Prospects B…..
All the best young players and 1st 2022 remain in the team.

Understand that the Stanley Cup winner can be determined now.

If Dubas does not take well-considered steps on the exchange in the deadline, this is a big risk.
Refusing insurance is a mistake.
Time will tell whether you have to pay for it or not.
Good luck. :)

how about no deal i don't like where dubas is going he doesn't know what hes doing so i prey that he doesn't do anything at all, he is famous for throwing money aroung like its peanuts, but the problem is the cap, and going forward it doesn't bode well.
