Rather stupid to include "Toronto's Top Prospect" and "Chicago's Cap Space" in the list.

A team's top prospect is rarely dealt, unless it's part of a deal for an elite player, none of which are expected to be dealt this year. Suggesting a team is going to deal their top prospect (not "one of their" top prospects) is just ridiculous - even if they do make a significant deal, it could just be picks and/or mid-level prospects going the other way.

Plenty of teams have cap space besides Chicago and would be willing to use it in the right deal.

I think its foreshadowing how desperate they are going to be for content this trade deadline.
The sellers are asking too much, the buyers have no idea how much value to put on picks in the upcoming mystery draft. So I expect a few deals but not a ton

Unless the prospect is meh....Don't know about the Leafs, but the Isles top prospect right now wouldn't garner an elite return, that's for sure.

COVID-19 has brought big changes
This deadline could bring one of the teams the Stanley Cup.
A greedy team could lose the Stanley Cup chances. :(

For example:
Edmonton - Toronto series.
These teams have the resources they need.
There is an opportunity to free up space in the salary ceiling.

TOR
Palmieri (@ 50% Ret)
Savard (@ 50% Ret)
Foligno (@ 50% Ret)

Bernier (@ 50% Ret)
Other players from the list are possible.
EDM composition remains the same.

What are the rates? :)

Think back to the other Stanley Cup favorites.
Whether to strengthen the squad or not, it will be up to each team to decide.

The favorite or the outsider will win - only time will tell.

Hall (@ 50% Ret) 1st is a risk. But you can hit the jackpot.
The future of DeAngelo?

The cost of some hockey players is too high.

Who will be the winner of the deadline?

We stock up on popcorn.

Why is everyone complaining about the Leafs top prospects being listed? The Leafs' GM, Kyle Dubas, straight up confirmed the team is willing to trade them. That's a whole lot more to go on than anyone on the list, aside from Palmieri.

Sorry the list didn't pluralize "prospect," so it sounds a bit awkward. But the teams' top guys, like Amirov, Liljegren, Sandin, Hallander, Anderson are absolutely trade bait. And for a team almost guaranteed to be active.

6 definite buyers
7 soft buyers

8 sellers (3 of which are within 8 pts of playoff spot).

For those of us that have been saying 2021 was buyers market, we may be wrong.

Reporting seems all over the map.

EF was saying Laughton was highly sought after and that teams would throw themselves at Laughts if available last week. Then Lebrun yesterday says Laughton could be had for relatively cheap.

So who really knows what the market will be.

Seravalli also said last night that he has his eyes on three teams for Taylor Hall.

Islanders
Bruins
Avalanche

Specifically mentions that the Avs were in on him in the offseason but had a very specific AAV they could not go above (which also explains the trade for Saad with 1M of retention).

I am guessing the Rangers will buy him out this summer which means you probably can have him for like 1-2M dollars next year

I agree with you.
TSN, Sportsnet wrote about it.
This is posted once a week by foreverblueshirts and blueseatblogs.

In this case, I hope that he will sign a contract with Detroit.
And Steve Yzerman will be able to sign a contract for three to four years with a reduced salary.

I watch this deadline with great interest. The other team may ruin plans.
That's why I wrote about Deangelo. I wait and hope. :)

I can't see any team take on that 4.8M caphit to be honest. Given the Rangers only have to pay him out 1/3 of his salary in a buyout, it makes more sense for them to buy him out then even trade him @50% of his caphit.

Shouldn't we really be asking why Ullmark would re-sign in Buffalo when there are a few good teams actively looking for a goalie?
It doesn't matter why. If he wants to, he will regardless of what happens at the deadline.

Gaudreau and Monahan are hopefully on this list soon.
Gaudreau's a UFA in '22 and Monahan in '23. I don't think either of them are going anywhere this deadline.

This offseason is probably going to be a different story, however. Somebody has to go - Sutter or Gaudreau/Monahan.

It does matter why. Because I don't think he will. There is little incentive for him to while other options exist.
Sure, the opposite is also true. If he doesn't want to sign with the Sabres, he won't regardless of what happens at the deadline.
