Poor guy. He played a great game against the Isles the other day.

INJURY UPDATE: Lyon out four weeks

During the team's complete day off at Training Camp, Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced that goaltender Alex Lyon will be out approximately four weeks with a lower-body injury.

Lyon suffered the injury pre-game of the Flyers-Islanders preseason match at Barclays Center on Sept. 18. So far at camp, he appeared in just 30 minutes of ice time, stopping nine of 10 shots, in the club's loss to the Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Sept. 16.

The Flyers signed Lyon to a two-year contract extension on July 7, 2018 after making his NHL debut with the club in 2017-18.

Dam Lyon King just can’t catch a break.

Had a feeling he could break into the NHL as a backup but it’s most likely not going to be with Philadelphia now.

He could be a decent backup just needs more experience playing in the NHL.

Sadly by the time he's healthy someone else will get hurt. Im not worried much about juggling 3 goalies somewhere because injuries happen

INJURY UPDATES (Friday, Sept. 21):
  • MACDONALD: Hexy said Amac is more likely back sooner than initial timetable. Doesn't want to put a date on it right now. (source: Bill Meltzer)
  • NEUVIRTH: Hexy said he suspects Neuvirth will miss time, but will have better clarity tomorrow (Sept. 22) . Said goalie situation right now is "last man standing." Will evaluate those who are here and also consider what else is out there if need be. (source: Bill Meltzer)
  • GOSTISBEHERE: He did not play after the second period due to “precautionary reasons.” (source: Flyers).
  • LYON: The injury is speculated to be a groin pull. (source: Sam Carchidi)

The Leafs will have to decide between Sparks and McElhinney for the backup roll. I would try and grab McElhinney if they go with Sparks.

For easier recall of info:

Neuvy will probably not be ready for opener, per Hexy. Coots will play a preseason game or two. Ditto Sanheim and Simmonds. (Source: Sam Carchidi, Sept. 23)

^Ghost appears to be healthy.

The list:
  • Sean Couturier has a right knee injury (Aug, 22) but is expected to play later this preseason.
  • Alex Lyon has a lower body injury, speculated as a groin pull, and will be out four weeks from Sept. 20.
  • Andrew MacDonald was originally expected out about six weeks from Sept. 11 due to a lower body injury. He was listed as slightly ahead of schedule on Sept. 17 and could return by the regular season opener.
  • Sam Morin has a torn ACL in his right knee (May 2018) and could return around February 2019.
  • Michal Neuvirth has a lower body injury, speculated as a groin pull, and no timetable for his return has been issued (Sept. 22) although he is not expected to be ready for the season opener.
  • Travis Sanheim is expected to miss about one week from Sept. 17 due to an upper body injury speculated as shoulder.
  • Wayne Simmonds had surgery May 1 to repair a pelvis tear on his right side and a torn abdominal muscle on his left side. He could return for opening night if not sooner.

It'll be interesting to see how Hextall plays the roster game. Could be some trades. Probably will send down some guys who are waiver exempt and keep players who will be sent down after that-Weiss, Weal, Lehtera. Then the recalls will begin such as Hart, Myers and Vorobyov.
