Improving Bingo is definitely something I can get behind
If we're going to build our team through the draft almost exclusively then we need to have success, at the team level, in the AHL
I like to think winning breeds winners and simply using the AHL to develop the prospects we have who will make the NHL sounds like lost equity
Dorion says NHL player going forward. Hmmm?
Pretty good AHLer. At 25 you gotta think thats all he is. Good Bingo signing. Probably 4th or 5th call up If injuries occur
While I know very little about O'Dell I would have preferred to keep Derek Grant in the organization. I guess they lost faith in the guy but I thought he would have made a pretty good 4th line centre in Ottawa given that he was a PK specialist, he was versatile & could play all three forward positions & had some offence to his game. Too bad.
Oh lord.. So another guy to block Prince/Puempel from getting on the NHL team?
He is only 25, if anything he is probably going to help them if they end up in the AHL. Its good to have depth.
Doiron said O'Dell is an NHLer.. So he's not gonna be helping anyone in the AHL.

If he was an AHL signing who gets a call up if injured, I'd be all for this. But O'Dell isn't an NHLer.. he is a career minor leaguer
When exactly did he leave? So you think its a bad thing that they signed an NHLer on a two way contract?
Have you ever watched him or done any research whatsoever? He was drafted 39th overall in 2008 one of the best drafts ever. He then was traded at the trade deadline from Anaheim to Atlanta. Shortly after that it was discovered he had a hole in his heart he lost 2 years of development because of it. When he came back he ripped up the AHL and has been up and down ever since never getting a chance to play in a top 9 role only on the 4th line in Winnipeg. He is 25 years old one year younger than Zack Smith. Does that sound like a career AHL'er?
This was a good depth signing by the sens.
When exactly did he leave?
It's not like he missed a whole season or something.
Smallish players will only get you so far unless he is meant for the AHL only.

The 2010/2011 2011/2012 seasons they didnt know why but he was having extreme difficulty producing oxygen. He finally had surgery in the offseason and you can see his production shoot up after. He really struggled for two seasons and no one knew why, he was in and out of the lineup. It really hurt him at a crucial point of his development. At that point he was an old prospect from an old regime with Don Waddel and the Atlanta organization. They had written him off but he played so well after they had to take him into account. However he was never one of 'their guys' so players that werent nearly as effective or productive as him were given more opportunities to play look at Adam Lowry for example.
I think given the opportunity here in Ottawa playing with good players there is a good chance he can produce. He isnt a flashy player but his hockey sense is very good he is always in the right place. He has a deceptive shot too he can shoot off his wrong foot very hard and accurate. Dave Cameron knows him he coached against him in the OHL. I was told today that NYR offered him more money but he decided to go with Ottawa because he thinks he has a better shot of making it.
Saw a lot of him the last few years for the Ice Caps. He is a good player, but I can't see him being an asset for the main team going forward. Will definitely help out with Bingo
what type of player is he? Does he seem like someone who could play a bottom 6 nhl role?
Former high-2nd round pick, taken one pick after the Preds took Roman Josi in 2008.
Clearly, that means he's almost as good as Josi. Crafty signing by BMGM.
