Ottawa's point of view: He's the ideal age with an ideal contract, who plays the desired style and position to replace DeBrincat.

You probably don't want to trade him for that exact reason, but I have to ask - what kind of futures would it take to pry him away?

List of notable assets you might be interested in:
2024 1st - Lottery protected
2025 1st - Lottery protected
2026 1st - Lottery protected
2024 2nd
2025 2nd
LW/RW - Alex DeBrincat (RFA looking for ~8.000 for 1yr or 8yrs)
LW - Alex Formenton (MIA RFA)
D - Filip Nordberg (64th in 2022)
RW- Tyler Boucher (10th in 2021)
C - Zack Ostapchuk (39th in 2021)
D - Benjamin Roger (49th in 2021)
D - Tyler Kleven (44th in 2020)
G - Leevi Merilainen (71st in 2020)
D - Lassi Thomson - (19th in 2019)

I am hesitant to include Ridly Greig (28th in 2020), Egor Sokolov (61st in 2020), or Mads Sogaard (37th in 2019) as I believe Dorion considers them to be "non-starters". I would also personally send a unprotected 1sts in a deal, but I also think that's unrealistic of Dorion to do at this time, so I feel lottery protected 1sts is more in line with reality.

I also realise the list of assets I'm posting aren't worthless by any means, but it's also one of those "two dimes don't equal a quarter" kind of things. At some point though - something's got to give. I'm trying to see what that point is, and if it's remotely worth exploring.

For what it's worth, I consider Opstapchuk and Kleven to be the best two prospects listed. Boucher is also interesting but opinions on him are polarizing.

Let the arguing begin! lol

We'd be selling low, Farabee from 19-21 was 42nd in pp/60 (5x5) among all NHL forwards.
Last season was misleading, he had neck surgery before the season and couldn't work out and wore down.
I expect a rebound this season, 20-30 goals, 60-70 points at 23 years old.

Is this going to be another thread where you waltz in here asking about a player, then gawking at the proposed returns, then claim the player is shit?

I agree with this FWIW

Farabee is one of the few players on the team I wouldn't trade. He's only 23, signed on a reasonable contract for 5 more years and even if we get a mid 1st for him, it won't be easy to find a better player with that pick than Farabee.

2024 1st (top 10 protected) and Sogaard or I’d hang up the phone. There is no need or real reason to move Farabee this summer so unless you’re willing to wow me with your offer he’s staying put.

I want to see how he does this season one year removed from surgery. No reason to sell low at this point.

Way out of left field but what about T.Chabot for Farabee then? Both have 5yrs left. Chabot is 3.000 more than Farabee and 3yrs older but also plays the more coveted position. He might not align with the Flyers plans due to age though I guess. Figured I'd ask.

Note:
The idea from the Sens POV would be to simultaneously flip DeBrincat for Pesce. Solves a lot of cap issues while getting good replacements.

23 year old 1 year removed from being your best 5v5 goal scorer. Selling low would be pretty Flyers.

Selling off Joel Farabee is kicking the can down the road quite far for another player that you hope will be just as good. Seems silly to move on from him if we are waiting for Cutter and Michkov to arrive.

If he was coming off say... 65 points instead of 39... What's the ask at that point?

I think that's about what he'd get in Ottawa TBH. I'm not trying to necesarily buy low.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with Chabot, I love him, but he just doesn't fit our timeline at all. We just need picks.
