Two Ducks legends. Different type of players. Selanne a high energy winger. Fast, offensively top-5 player in his prime. One of the best offensive players to never win the Art Ross (came second to Lemieux once and another time to peak Jagr). Fast as they come. All-time great scorer, led the league in goals 3 times. Also a great playmaker, though known for his scoring prowess. Muffin of a shot, but accurate AF. Defensive liability. All-time points leader in best v best olympics.

Getzlaf was/is a big bodied center with all-world level offensive abilities. Mean streak and defensively good to great. Would turn most teams #1C in to a pulp. Amazing playmaking abilities. Peaked with 2nd in points against Crosby and 2nd in Hart voting. Underrated shot. Captain and the soul of the team after Teemu left.

Both Stanley Cup champs. Which one was better?

You want sizzle and flash with less substance? Selanne

You want substance and don't care about bells and whistles? Getzlaf

While I like the idea of building around a big center like Getzlaf, I think Selanne is just too good of a scorer if we're talking in their primes. And while Getz has a much better playoff record, Selanne didn't have a lot of games at his peak and didn't have much support against better teams. His international record makes me believe he could have risen to the occasion in a better team situation.

Absolutely no disrespect intended to Getzlaf - who has probably deserved a higher profile over his career - but the answer for me is clearly Selanne, who is an absolute all-time legend.

And like mentioned Getzlaf second place were against Lemieux and Jagr having arguably the best season of is career.

Their peak is close, peak Getzlaf playoff were quite something, but Selanne had a very long prime and a great Finnish career, he was a first ballot hall of famer type of player and career.

Considering the Selanne has arguably the edge for the best 7-8 year's and did much more outside of those, seem an easy pick
