Shifts like this is not a problem itself but consequences of their problem. Both McDavid and Draisaitl understand that they need to save energy on D as they will get the very next offensive faceoff.
On top of this, just prior to thus shift both spent like 4 minutes out of the previous 6 on the ice. This thing is a context but who needs it when the target is already identified?
