Lots of talk about trading Benn. If Dallas ever did want to scrap it and start from scratch (not saying there's even a hint that they do) then Seguin is who they get the pieces to do it from.

He's a tough one to get a good value from eh? On one hand he's 28ish, nearly point per game, 30g scoring centre. Many teams would kill for him.

I could see a team like Arizona go for him, what would the price be from any team

It would have to involve a team looking to contend now or in the very near future to make sense.
I'm thinking 1st + blue chip prospect + roster players/A prospect.

I think, Montreal would trade the whole city for him...

If not the city, then Romanov, Suzuki, 1st... but they will probably trade the city before this.

Benn's definitely not going to be able to return that. From the Oilers, for example, that's a 1st, Evan Bouchard, and Kailer Yamamoto. I doubt any team in the league is willing to pay that price, especially considering his cap hit.

Edit: I thought we were talking about Benn. My bad. (I still wouldn't do that deal, but your asking price isn't outrageous).

...the thread is about Seguin?
He does have a big contract though.

Carolina offers Staal + both 2020 1sts + Gauthier. Need Dallas to retain 3m.

That's really bad.

To destroy the C core completely for 2 1st's and retain on top of it.

why would Staal waive to go to Dallas? Why would Dallas want Staal?

CAR probably has the assets (Necas, multiple 1sts, etc) that’d be necessary to get a guy like Seguin, but their cap situation at the moment makes any such move basically impossible.

Would love to see him back in Boston.

Backes, Moore for cap reasons and bunch of prospects and picks.

Seguin and Eichel would be a pretty nice 1-2 punch in Buffalo lol.

There's pretty much no way we can afford Seguin's contract moving forward, unless Dallas takes Okposo and we also send over another player with a decent-sized cap hit. With Reinhart due for a new contract this summer (plus Mitts and Montour), and with Dahlin's and Jokiharju's 2nd contracts lurking around the corner, it'd be very risky to add another big contract like that.

Something around Matthews++(Sandin?) for Seguin+Heiskanen

I'd love to see him in NYI but we don't seem like such a good match. We can't gut our future and we don't have a surplus anywhere other than top 4 D and prospect wingers. I don't think that's what Dallas will want.

Seguin + Heiskanen? You better start thinking about Barzal then start adding from there.

Oh I don't think we have the pieces to acquire either outside Barzal. NYI not a realistic option, even for just 1.

Seg is an established star in his prime.
Only downside is length of contract, possible risk as he ages post prime.

Off top of my head, can't see a team w/enuf surplus of high enuf talent that there are pieces for an elite guy.
Later as he ages maybe different, but unless it is post lottery top 3 picks or so, now futures here are not enuf to even consider.
Again, this is an elite pivot.

Rangers pass.

Has been bad to start the season, but he’s been a point per game guy since joining Dallas so I’ll take that track record over a couple of magic beans.
