Would Cholowski have to be protected ?

Like Mantha, he will have 2 yrs + as a pro since he played with the Griffins last spring.

What are the remaining timeframes on Holland's albatross contracts? I'm thinking they will be near the end once Seattle is selecting players. If Seattle does hire Holland it would be nice if he selects one of his lingering contracts.

Looks like Helm will probably be the odd man out, in terms of losing folks to expansion. His NTC is voided if we don't make the playoffs this year or next year (according to Capfriendly).

The one thing I'm not sure about is if RFA's that aren't signed to a contract are eligible for the Expansion Draft. It will have an effect, depending on the answer. My guess is we will have to trade away a few vets to keep the team from not having enough spots to protect players.

That's definitely not true. 1-2 year pros are excluded from 2020 summer expansion draft, and Rasmussen, Zadina, Cholowski etc. everybody drafted at 2018 or later, or having a first pro season at 2018-19 are excluded.

You have to be pro. Hronek has to be protected, because he has already 1 AHL season. And before 2020, he is gonna get 2 extra pro seasons more in AHL/NHL. So he will have 3.

Expansion draft rules were informed to be identical what Vegas expansion had. 7F+3D+1G protection, or 4F+4G+1G.

B/C DDK is more than a 6th Dman on probably every NHL team imho. Also to show his NTC expires in Jan 2021, not in 2020 which makes him ineligible for the expansion draft.

NTC are not automatically exempt. Only NMC are.
