Good deal if he becomes a bottom pairing dman for them. I know Sabres fans had him penciled in on the squad, and were pissed he was unprotected (and that Risto was protected).

Didn't really see him in the top 6/7 for Seattle, was hoping we'd get him back on waivers. Wonder who this frees up.

Too bad the Ristolainen trade wasn’t done pre expansion draft but Adams got you guys a great return on him so in the end it’s not soo bad. Seattle is pretty deep on D, does Borgen require waivers? If so you might get a chance at him

Yep, now Buffalo ended up with Hagg + Rosen (2021 14 OA pick) + 2022 2nd rounder. If they'd switched RR and Borgen (and if (!) Seattle had picked RR), Buffalo would still have Borgen, but that's it.

(And if RR plays like complete clown in Philadelphia, maybe that 2022 2nd round pick ends up being early in that round, so there might be another good prospect available ;) )

Yea, Borgen requires waivers if he’s sent down. It was pointed out to people that they could potentially get him back.

I wasn’t really worried about losing him. He’s 25 and has played 14 NHL games. It woulda been 30 without his injury, but still.

I've been following Borgen's career since he was in college: SEA is getting a nice player. He is going to be one of those smash mouth, heart and soul type guys. He probably caps out as a 2nd pairing guy if he hits his full potential, but he'll be valuable nonetheless.

Take good care of him!

It should have been a lot more, but Botterill decided to spend assets to flood the Sabres with middling RD, blocking Borgen's path (Risto, Montour, Jokiharju, and Miller were all ahead of him). Now that Borgen is healthy and that RD logjam is cleared up, we lose him to Seattle. He's never going to be a game breaker, but he would have been a fantastic 5/6 defenseman for the last couple of years.
