They must have been banking on Jani playing. I don’t understand the Lundkvist thing. If you do not trust the guy why would you not make a trade so you don’t have to play Nils. He is a waste of a lineup spot if Pete won’t play him. Hakanpaa will not be getting less than 8 minutes a game. At this point you have to let Nils play. You did not address this at the deadline like you should have.

I remember tracking it for the first period, he didnt get a shift for ages. I thought they were going to play the entire game with 5 to be honest.

This is also what happened to Adam Larsson back in NJ with DeBoer too.
He's been doing it the entire year, there's no reason to assume it would change in of all places the PO, barring maybe a blowout win.

It wasn't that bad until the last couple of weeks of the season . It was 12-15-ish minutes for most of the year. When they went in playoff mode it dropped to 5-10 at most
