Injury Report: Scott Laughton concussion (Mar. 11); Cleared to return (Apr. 1)

The decision to call up Frost comes after center Scott Laughton left Thursday’s game against the Florida Panthers with what interim coach Mike Yeo confirmed Friday was a concussion.

“He’s concussed. Yeah. Obviously, I think you guys saw that. It’s a pretty tough hit to watch,” said Yeo. “Tough for all the players, especially because he’s so well-liked by all the players and he’s been playing so well for us, so it’s a tough one.”

Laughton was injured in the second period after awkwardly hitting the boards following a hip check from Panthers defenseman Petteri Lindbohm. Yeo said it was too early to provide any timeline on when Laughton could return.

“Every player and every injury, like when you’re dealing with a concussion, is totally different,” said Yeo. “I know Laughts does have a history from when he was younger. But that said, he was feeling better after the game last night. So let’s hope that it’s a quick turnaround, but obviously, you want to be smart when you’re dealing with head injuries.”

Sit him for the season. No use rushing him back for a team not making the playoffs. With all of the current injuries it'd be worse to create a problem going forward than let a bad team be worse

I assume he was placed on IR today or yesterday in order to promote Max Willman. The Flyers had the max three non-IR players scratched today (Connauton, Seeler and Mayhew).

Whine about Thompson, but the alternatives are slim with Laughton out.
They can call up Laczynski, after that it's J Cates, Willman, Strome or move Farabee to center.
Couts is IR, G, Brassard and Bunnaman are gone.

I hit “like” on this because it’s good to see the Flyers’ med staff do the right thing and not push a player back on the ice. The season is wrecked so what’s the point? Protect the player.

IF he is truly recovered, put him back on the ice. It's just with his concussion history, and the season being shot, why not just take the rest of the season off and be good for the fall?
