There's a startling statistic about Darling's tenure in CAR. He didn't once win 2 games in a row in all of his starts. Good riddance to Darling the goalie, nothing but good wishes for Darling the person, wherever he lands

My guess is that someone has to go down to make room and because Darlings contract is basically claim proof, he's temporarily getting moved off the roster until they figure something out. At this point, it probably wouldn't matter too much if they dropped Darling or Mrazek, but Mrazek would likely get claimed by one of the handful of teams looking for help in net... Except for the Flyers, since he was garbage there.

In a backwards way, the Canes should be thanking Darling for getting hurt so they had to go get McBackup... Otherwise a Darling/Mrazek tanden would've been a nightmare.

wow. is this another dubnyk?

No. Dubnyk's game fell off of a cliff because he lost all of his confidence, and his mechanics weren't good. He needed to rebuild his game and his confidence, but he always had the ability to be a starter. Darling has never shown to have that ability. He's a career backup who was given a chance to start, and a big contract along with it, but failed hard.

Signing backups from great teams to long-term deals can really bite you in the butt . Not the first time this happened and won't be the last time.

thats a total lie and untrue.....

Didn’t see that coming, even if he did fall somewhat out of favour.

Wow, he has great size and from what I saw with the Checkers, was a net front presence to be reckoned with.
Decent speed, not great, but manageable.
Something going on in Carolina.

Damn, proposed him in a trade earlier yesterday to the ducks. Would’ve liked him if Silf was gone, but we have too many RW’s as is

Nobody is surprised by this. A lot of people around him were trying to tell him to not take for granted what he had in Chicago and take a cheaper deal to stay home and be a solid goalie tandem with crawford as his backup but he wanted a big payday shot as a started with a limited resume when Chicago gave him a shot to even be in the NHL

I understand wanting a chance to prove himself as a starter, but everyone knew he wasnt ready. The safe play was to get a more sheltered role and have possibilty a longer NHL career with solid timeshare stats. Now he busted out as a starter in less than two years and he might honestly not even have an NHL gig in a years time

Felt he should accepted being more of a Chad Johnson type who has been an extremely reliable backup with a long NHL career (Going on 10+ years now) never playing more than 45 games in a season, nothing more, nothing less.
