A very good save. Not sure if it rises to the SOTY status. But very nice. We see those types of saves 20-30 times a year by various goaltenders :dunno:

Nice. Replay shows it even better. Not your typical just slide the pad across in desperation he actually raised it to save it.

Yeah the replay really shows the save. This is not your typical slide pad save. Rinne manages to lift his pad just enough while sliding to save the puck. Definitely won't be seen often.

Unbelievable save.

Rinne is quietly having himself a very good start to the year with Nashville. He's given his team a chance every night.

I sure miss "the old days" where all goaltenders tried to actually make a save on virtually every shot (instead of there being one typical style of "being in position" that only involves going down/sliding around on your knees)

Like some others, Rinne's save didn't seem significantly impressive to me...

The way he fights back to even get a push from his right side and actually manages to get across and raise his padded leg to make the save is nothing short of amazing. Any goalie will tell you this was a spectacular job by Rinne.

His athleticism and never quit approach with his size is fantastic to watch when he's on. When they introduce the reduced sized equipment he's really going to be one to keep an eye on.

As a goalie, this save is 10 times better than any lucky desperation glove save you usually see in highlight reels 100 times over. To raise the pad like that, in the position he is in and to consciously make that save is nothing short of incredible. The sensible thing would have been to leave the pad on the ice and close up the lower side, but that would not have stopped the puck.

This save requires incredible strength, agility and awareness. Just amazing.

Goes one side, suddenly pushes a bit the other and raises the leg in a split? Yeah that seems pretty bonkers to me. :handclap:
