This is an absurd claim. Romanov plays in the KHL, which is a heavily scouted professional hockey league.

no it's not as watched by specialists than the AHL, US leagues and Canadian leagues. Finding game online is way harder and sometimes impossible to stream.

Every team has an extensive network of scouts in Russia and every team has full access to video of every game in the KHL. Do you honestly think all of these lists are missing players that are playing in Russia?

But that don't mean anything cause Sandin looks good in the AHL . I think we can rest our case. We value Sandin and no Habs fan has tried to troll his value as much as Leafs fans have tried with both Poehling and Romanov. To be fair to all Leaf fans, it's a few that ruin it and not all have acted this way. I feel I need to say that cause there are a few good Leafs posters I have had good conversations with

Yeah, they do. Of course they do. And they lean on a network of connections within the scouting community to bounce opinions off of.

There's an entire bureau of scouts that determine the top North American and Top World Wide prospects. These aren't a secret. It's not 1985 anymore.

I know Bob comes up with his rankings by interviewing several scouts but other rankings? Sure, they would have connections but how deep are they and how talented are those scouts? It's anybodies guess.

I actually have seen some pretty wise scouting with some posters on HF boards. Do they fly around the world watching games? Doubt that but some are buying NCAA TV packages and actually watch games in Europe. The issue is trying to pump up your teams prospect over the other team prospect. It's guess work based on the hope they reach what potential you think they have. Debating with certainty is ridiculous

Nobody is suggesting that bloggers are flying around the world. But the notion that the KHL is some league shrouded in mystery and unable to access is laugh out loud ridiculous. It's the second best hockey league in the world and it's games are not mysterious and difficult to obtain. It is heavily scouted and absolutely filled with high end prospects and valuable undrafted free agents.

There has never been an issue that I have read here with Russian players finding their way on top prospect lists, but suddenly when a Montreal Canadien prospect isn't on these lists provided, it's because he's in an "under scouted league."

I honestly believe Sandin is the more valuable piece. Performing better in the ahl while also being 14 months younger sways the value in his favour imo
