calling out Phil won't do anything. Mentally he's already checked out of Toronto. Ever since Feschuk implied Kessel was the reason Carlyle was fired and NOBODY in this organization stepped up for Phil (even though it may be the case), he has given up on this team and is waiting to be traded. He has no reason to put any lick of effort.
At this point I just want to see Phil play with a truly great player. You see it at the World Championship or Olympics. This guy thrives in those scenarios. He just doesn't have the mental fortitude to lead this team. The moment someone else comes in to do that for him, be it in Toronto or somewhere else, the sky's the limit.
I wouldn't give up on him. He just needs to be put in the proper role.
