I've spent a bunch of time in both and I tell you - the wife and I LOVE Cincy. Arena is right on the water too - next to the Reds baseball stadium and a walking bridge to Newport, KY with a bunch of restaurants and bars. Nothing wrong with Cincy at all. But yeah Jax is warmer in the winter.

I'm not sure why they use a NHL contract spot on Houser instead of an AHL deal. Seems pretty unlikely any other team was going to sign him to an NHL deal. But Houser is a happy story so yay.

I think they want to make sure they have three possible NHL-level contracts lined up already in the minors. The year they had to turn to Subban and then push Anderson and Tokarski back in even though they had injury and illness issues may have made them want their own choices at the recall level.
