Gotta say, the Sabres really look in bad shape for a team that’s been rebuilding for so long. We’re getting kind of late in the cycle for them to be looking completely hapless and unable to compete. I don’t know what needs to happen there, obviously another blowup isn’t it, but they can’t just keep on like this indefinitely.

After they played so well down the stretch last year, I really thought this was going to be the year they made it. Clearly not looking that way, and boy does everything about that team look broken right now.

I'm not sure what the prospect pool looks like but I'm not sure it matters. Them tanking in 14-15 seeped in a losing culture and its hard to shake that. The 76ers in the NBA tanked too and while they've made the playoffs, they keep getting stuck in round 2.

They still have one of the best prospect pools in the league. Kulich and Savoie haven't matriculated to the NHL yet and Levi's adjusting to the league. It's likely only a matter of time, but like New Jersey, young teams that lose for so long have a hard time breaking the stench.

So you’re saying the Sabres have gone from suck to blow?

Glad to see some of the doom narratives had a bad night. Aho looked good. Kochetkov looked perfectly fine. In general, a good night of globetrotting. The Sabres are bad, and I don't love giving up the third period goals, but the Cnaes were all hearing Sweet Georgia Brown in their heads, so I forgive them for feeling it too much and having some breakdowns.

I mentioned a few weeks ago I thought Drury was this year's Koko in that I thought he had played well enough to have several more points than he had at the time. He's starting to come on and I hope he can keep it up so he can become what I thought he could be as a prospect

It's a tough road trip coming up but we managed to put ourselves in a pretty strong position heading into it.

It would be a nice luxury for Carolina if Drury pans out in the bottom-6. It would be great for Brind'Amour if he can relatively seamlessly transition from Jordo to Drury in four seasons.
