He hasn't scored tons points this season, 49 in 44 games, however he has scored those 49 in steadily fashion
in 38 games, i think that's a huge plus. - scored 2 tonight, the tying goal and 2-1 OT winner.

He's putting up some good numbers this year for sure. I see him listed as a 2nd round talent. Any chance he gets into the 1st?

A second-round pick, 25th overall, by the Prince Albert Raiders in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft, forward Ozzy Wiesblatt had an excellent season. He scored 25 goals and 45 assists for 70 points in 64 games. Wiesblatt was especially dangerous on the power play with 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points with the man advantage. In the summer he played for Team Canada at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. He played a bottom-line role and picked up one assist in five games, winning a silver medal. Wiesblatt also appeared in the CHL Top Prospects Game, playing for Team Red.

Last season Wiesblatt was part of the Raiders team that won the WHL Championship. He scored 15 goals and 24 assists for 39 points in 64 games. Wiesblatt also added five goals and five assists for 10 points in 23 playoff games. He also scored one assist in three Memorial Cup games. I think I heard that both their parents are deaf too, and that they grew up learning sign language before they could figure out how to talk. Interesting family nonetheless..

That article focuses on Neighbours but it's about his relationship with the Wiesblatt family. Not sure if their father passed away or left but she's a single mother who's deaf and Neighbours played with Ozzy starting in midget. He learned sign language to communicate better with the family and is good friends with Ozzy as they train together.

Ozzy isn't the only potential NHLer as his younger brother Oaziz was taken 12th overall by Medicine Hat recently and could be promising also. He'll be entering his first full year in the WHL next year so we'll see how he adjusts.

I think Ozzy is one of the 2020 draft "hidden" gems

Very good player and the modern NHL is absolutely being geared to players like him. He has fantastic puck skills, super shifty, and I love that he goes to the dirty areas especially on the PP. The problem is that, currently, he very much plays a junior hockey game and might have some concerns because of it. I see him as a PP specialist as his strengths are geared towards more open ice, but definitely someone to watch for to potentially rise into the first round for 2020. Was quite impressed by his game this season.

Not sure I see the thick frame, he still seems super skinny and small to me, but he still has another year including offseason training to bulk him up so I am not too worried.
Has your opinion on Weisblatt changed since your post above 13 months ago?

Curious if you could elaborate on the bit in bold; and also, do you think he'd be in contention if Colorado decide to go for a forward at #28?

From what I can tell he looks like a bit of a hidden gem in this draft with his skating, puck skills, and tenacity. He looks like the sort of middle 6er that playoff teams love to have.

Wiesblatt has some very impressive stats which suggest that he's being quite underrated. Especially since he played on quite a defensive-minded team this year.

Yes it has, I am more of a believer in his production as an offensive player. I still do have some concerns about how much of his production can translate to the pros, however, in my spring list I moved him from 45th to 36th. He still plays on a very good team and still predominately gets major PP time, which obliviously helps with his statline. Nonetheless, I like him more than I do Jarvis and I do agree that he's not really talked about a lot. I think he could have the same impact as Parenteau did in the league, maybe doesn't have the top talent, but as you said can fill in a role/spot on the 2nd line. I would consider him at 28th, but more due to the fact that there will be a lot of players bunched up between 20th and 40th I suggest. I would prefer to pick him in the second round because that's more where I think he should go, but I believe the Avs do not have a 2nd rounder.

I'm getting Matt Calvert vibes from Wiesblatt. And from me that's praise. I'd take Calvert in the first round.
