I want to see him on the second or third line with some time on the PP at the WJC's.

Hemming with inconsistent U20 5 Nations. Against Slovakia and Switzerland he looked good, but against Czechia and Sweden he was mostly invisible. Finished the tournament with 6 points in 4 games.

If Helenius is centering a line? And besides Kemell of course. Halttunen hasn't been overly impressive either. Lot's of goals are scored on the PP.
Name other RW's that are certainly better please.

Yes so hämeenaho kemell are locks and halttunen while wildly inconsistant 5on5 not like hemming showed anything 5v5 here cant be getting outplayed by kiiskinen

But can't Hämeenaho or any of these potential RW's play at LW as well?

Can someone tell me if he is more of a playmaker or scorer and if he has any physicality to his game?

Also how is his skating?

Appreciate any info anyone can provide in advance - thanks!

He's been a PP goal scoring machine at the WJC18's. I believe all of his points have come from the man advantage so far in the tourney. Where's the offense at ES play, though? Maybe since he's on the top line with Helenius that opposing teams are dedicating their top defenders on them to where the Helenius-Hemming score most of their points on the PP?

Valid question. But he has been toying some opponents with some stickhandling on ES as well but hasn't been lucky- or able to score. Those four together really do stand out every single time . No matter if it's PP or ES. Hemming, Helenius, Kiviharju and Väisänen.
Saarelainen has been good too.

Though I have to say it will be a lot more interesting against the US. I'm not sure on anyone expect Helenius.
Slovakia this year are nothing but horrendous and Norway isn't there yet. Latvia wasn't easy for this Finnish team and the US are the biggest favorites and they seem to have a big chance of being final contenders with Canada this year. They have impressed quite a lot.
Therefor the game against them will tell us a lot more.

It is a bit worrisome Hemming's goals have all been powerplay goals.
It'll be easy for USA to shut-down Hemming's one-timer in powerplay vs Finland
because Finland's 1st powerplay unit have scored basically all Finland's powerplay goals
in these U18 WJC's meanwhile Finland's 2nd powerplay unit has scored only 1 goal vs Slovakia.

So far all 3 games what Finland has won
have all been against weaker teams ( Latvia, Norway and Slovakia )
so USA game is first real test for Finland and i'm worried about our 5 vs 5 scoring against USA.

Because our 1st line have scored mostly on powerplay
so if / when USA will give special treatment and attention our first 1st line we'll be big troubles.

Hemming looks one-dimensional because powerplay seems the only way for him to score goals
so he doesn't look like Patrik Laine type goal threat because Laine can score 5 vs 5 and powerplay
meanwhile Hemming seems to need a playmaker who feeds him powerplay one-timers and he's more powerplay shooter / scorer and that's why i see a bit bust risk in Hemming
if he doesn't learn to score 5 vs 5 too

I don't know how much of those things are related to his role in TPS sm liiga team.
But if NHL team who drafts Hemming somewhere rounds 1-2 wants to see more
what Hemming can do with the puck 5 vs 5 then they should bring him to AHL or CHL
immidiately after the 2024 NHL draft because even i don't know is staying to TPS
right move for Hemming next season if he seriously wants to become NHL player.

And being honest i'm a bit surprised of that
none CHL teams didn't draft Hemming last years import draft
because playing in CHL would've given much more data and scouting knowledge of Hemming.

With TPS, Hemming is a fourth line forward. That's common practice for most young players to play in lower roles in a top tier men's league. There are exceptions such as Helenius. There are video scouting reports out there that show his Liiga play and he's mostly a perimeter guy on offense, but will do the power forward stuff. His shot is real such that he's the 7th best goal scorer on TPS. Kinda plucky that way.

From mocks I've seen throughout the season, Hemming's stock has fluctuated from late 1st/2nd round to late teens and then back to late 1st/2nd round. That surge to the late teens was probably due to his play with TPS U20 team, where he was scoring at a 1.38 ppg rate (11g + 7a in 13 games). The promotion to TPS neutered that offense to 0.28 ppg rate (7g + 4a in 40 games).

What is good to see is Hemming is a + rating at TPS U20 and TPS. There's only a handful of players on TPS that are + rating and the fact Hemming is a +3 in 40 games reflects he isn't a defensive sieve. A lot of 3rd liners are drafted in the late 1st/2nd. Plus, he doesn't turn 18 years old until Jun 27th. He's got a man's body, but his brain is still that of a 17-year old. If Hemming had Helenius' mental maturity, then Hemming would be in the top-10 conversation.

Hemming needs to be less of a perimeter offensive player and go to the middle more often. His ES offense that I've seen on scouting video reminds of Isac Lundestrum, both are perimeter ES offensive players - except Hemming's got a better shot.
