You need a badass first name if your last name is Joly. Doesn't that translate from French to 'happy'?

He's tall but slender and on pace for 50-60 points. My guess is 4-6th round pick. Maybe higher if he has defensive talents or is seen as a late bloomer.

Jolie means pretty, so worse I guess?

And that's a ridiculous first name his parents gave him. It's like naming your daughter Khaleesi.

His brothers all have common names.

He is the youngest of 7 boys. His brothers names are Christian, Jérémy, Brandon, Raphaël, Gabriel and Michaël. Raphaël plays hockey in Germany, Michaël plays for Hartford in the AHL and Brandon is a ... monk!

The family watched the movie The Man in the Iron Mask just before the mom gave birth. The boys tought D'Artagnan was a nice name and it stuck.

I think he goes in the late second round. Definitely a riser. Been producing a lot since mid-November (on a weak team).

Besides, this is a weak draft depth-wise and few players outside of the top-45 have a more tantalizing mix of size, speed and skill.

He looks like he needs to eat a little but could be a later round steal

Has anyone watched him enough to give a reliable report on him? Other than commenting on his name.

My two cents:

Joly is a very intriguing prospect. The blend of size and skill that he has makes him intriguing. However, the production hasn't met the skill yet, which makes me question his hockey sense. He tries to do too much on his own in the offensive end, often isolating himself into situations where he has no outs, causing him to be turnover prone. He does have some skill with the puck and a nose for the net, so if he learns to read his teammates better, he could become more of an offensive force. He is committed to helping out in the defensive zone. He comes back and gets in position well, but again, must commit to being stronger on his man - he is in position, but starts watching the play and doesn't tie up his man, leaving him still open for a pass. With his size, speed and skill, there is certainly upside to this prospect, but he must commit to learning to be mentally in the game at both ends of the ice to realize that potential. Certainly worth a pick outside of the top 100, but I don't think there is enough upside to reach for him before that.

I love the name! I hope he makes it. His name reminds me of some of the guys playing for the Canadiens or Maroons or Quebec Bulldogs back in the 20's and 30's!

Dude jumped from 48 P in 66 GP to 68 P in 55 GP and he turned 19 in April.

Strange there's not much chatter on this guy, looking like a steal!

Saw this dude play in Halifax about two months ago during world junior finals week. He really stood out. He seemed to be in the high traffic areas a lot through the game. Looked big. Decent shot and speed. Scored a shorty.

Yeah, i have been hearing reading about Joly past 2 years now. Really haven't focused on him
until this season (because of Senna Peeters), looked good on the highlights what ive seen, from this season.

Good skater and carries the puck well. Has decent PP skills. He found instant chemistry with Kevin Gursoy who also came to Halifax at trade deadline. Maybe the most consistent skilled player on the team since losing Max Trepanier. I have a friend who’s a Calgary fan and I told him I was impressed with Joly. He hadn’t heard of him. Maybe he can put together a good camp this year and get some recognition.

I see top scorer at the ECHL level. Or goes to a good university school in the CIS. Nothing special to me unfortunately. Something must've happened behind the scenes at camp or in his game. Could sign an AHL contract but I doubt it.
