Phoenix has 9 D-men on 1-way deals. Any interest in sending Ruutu and a 3rd or 4th rounder to Phoenix in exchange for Klesla? He is a UFA after next season, but he might help us out. Or does it make us too soft? Is Klesla a better option than Hainsey? Might we keep some $$ form Ruutu's contract to make Phoenix bite?

Interesting.....why dont the Canes take on Klesla so we too could have about a million guys on Defense.

None of whom are No 1 Dmen.

If we wanted to talk a Canes-Yotes trade, I think the formula has to start with something like Skinner + X for OEL. If Canes ship a forward+ for defense it needs to be at least near-elite talent coming back. We're log-jammed with #3/#4/#5 Dmen as it is.

OEL isn't happening unless it's a vast overpayment (in the area code of Skinner + Lindholm). Yandle makes more sense and would be a top-pairing D on any team in the league (not to mention fix the PP).

Canes have one of the best top-6 forwards in the league, they don't need any more help there. They need physical grit in the bottom-6 and a better overall D corps. I think Hainsey would be a great add if Harrison or Gleason could be moved. Ideally they could free up salary and find some way to snag Phaneuf as a FA or rental-and-sign if Toronto falters.
