The pre-banter thread was ripe. This rivalry doesn't need much fuel to erupt.

Banter 2014: This time it's still not personal
Pro-Habs talking points (repeat these until they're true)
  1. The Habs are the ONLY Canadian team in the second round. All of Canada supports us - even if they say they don't.
  2. Team Canada's *STAR* Player, Carey Price, is a Hab. He's the best goaltender in the league.
  3. One of the most underrated coaches in the league, Michel Therrien, preaches respect to all his players and gets them to play an attractive, no-frills kinda game.
  4. Great young players like Subban, Gallagher, Eller, Bournival, Beaulieu, Tinordi and Galchenyuk are relied upon for important duties at all times.
  5. Wily vets like Briere, Bourque, Bouillon and Murray bring stability to the lineup with their consistent play.
  6. Deadline acquisitions Weaver and Vanek go to show that we're truly Stanley Cup contenders
  7. Physical players like Parros, Moen, White, Emelin, Murray keep the other team on their toes and honest.
  8. Stars like Desharnais, Pacioretty, Vanek and 40goal man, Brian Gionta, can pretty much score at will. If you want high-octane hockey, you'd support the Habs

Anti-bruins talking points (these are actually true)
  1. They're the MOST notorious divers in the league.
  2. They traded Seguin away because they have rotten leadership who couldn't handle an 18 year old.
  3. Chara's mobility issues will be the end of him - it's a matter of time. Every time he's on the ice for a goal against - it's another sign of his impending drop-off.
  4. Rask is a basket case who is a career loser against the Habs.
  5. They got rid of patriot and hero Tim Thomas for his politics because the bruins organization hate free speech.
  6. Bobby Orr is the most overrated player of all time, if he's so good he would've played for longer than 8 seasons.
  7. Lucic is obsessed with player safety - when a player doesn't have his head up, or his cup on Lucic makes it his mission to remind them.
  8. Claude Julien is a loser who got fired from the Devils with 3 games left in the season. If it weren't for owner Jeremy Jacobs and Daddy Campbell, the Bruins wouldn't have won anything, ever.

If you're ever caught in a debate, just fall back on the previous points and refuse to concede any points. Always remember the following:

  1. Every hit by the Bruins is dirty and had intent to injure.
  2. Every hit by the Habs was clean and old school hockey
  3. The refs are CLEARLY biased against the Habs because of Jeremy Jacobs and Daddy Campbell
  4. The Bruins' 39 year drought is still longer than our 19 year drought. **** the Bruins.
  5. The Habs are obviously playing injured
  6. Chara ate his twin brother in the womb.
  7. Every win by the Habs was a dominant win and it wasn't even close, no matter what the scoreline says.
  8. Every win by Boston (yuck!) was by the skin of their teeth and the Habs woulda won if some of those bounces went our way.
  9. HFBoards is against the Habs because they're jealous of our success
  10. We're the underdogs. We're always the underdogs.

Happy posting!! And don't forget the Avatar Bet Thread.

I don't get how people keep saying "Bishop/Rask is the difference-maker, Bolts/Bruins in 5"

Is Price just a cut-out shooting target you get at Sears? He gets zero respect for some reason.

I don't really care what people say about it. It feels good to see that our goalie doesn't have to stand on his head and steal each and every game. The team in front of Price can, and will take some pressure off his shoulders. And he will bring his A-game when needed.

Seems like the common meme is to blame the Refs for favoritism.

I find blaming refs to be so futile - most Habs fans think the refs are against them anyway. It's 100% negativity, there is nothing to gain by blaming the refs on marginal calls. Absolutely 0.

But the Bruins are going to make a science out of it.

My reaction to Bruins fans in general is this: It's lucky for them that posting on this and other fan sites is free. Otherwise they'd have to hold their waste products in until they burst. I'd appreciate it if they would hold it in until they get to TD Garden, a suitable place for depositing it. Pity the maintenance crew! They'd prefer a circus crowd of elephants.
