a little worried for sure, but I think the bruins will have nothing but respect for the wings and will obviously not take them lightly, thus bring the best out in the bruins...the speed of the young wings (nyquist, tatar) worry me more than the old guard for sure...should be a good series.

I hope I'm wrong, and I know I should never listen to Haggs, but I honestly think this series is going to absolutely suck. Ballbuster of ballbusters. I just don't like the idea of Datsyuk, Nyquist, Tatar, Zetterberg, DeKeyser, Howard, Babcock. Too bad the number one seed couldn't pick the team they want to play like in draft fashion:sarcasm:

Should be a great series, will get the boys into it right away. Have to find a way to bring the nasty into it.

Worst possible 1st round opponent but the B's should take care of business and if they can't beat Detroit, they sure as hell wouldn't be able to beat the top team in the West anyway.

I like the idea that the Bruins will actually respect this opponent and be ready to go from the start unlike the last few years.

Really would have liked to have played Columbus though without Horton...

Pretty sure Zetterberg isn't expected to be back for the 1st round...which helps.

Honestly, it's kind of a nightmare of a series for the Bruins. Quick, talented, puck-moving team that will not get involved at all with the Bruins tough play. They recently got back one of the best players in the league, and another one of the best players in the league could come back soon as well. All the pressure is on Boston, and they are notorious for starting the opening series slow. I'll still take Boston in 7 though.

Anyone think this is good for us, maybe we won't get taken to game 7 ot for under estimating out first round opponent for once?

I think if they figure out how to beat Detroit they can get the job done the rest of the way.

If Bergy, Kelly and Paie are all three injures or even two I worry about our chances.

We need a Caron free third and fourth line to be at our best.

The third line sucks with Caron on it and quickly goes from a scary and dangerous line to one much easier to defend.

This team needs the depth and it needs it's players healthy.

Rask's career numbers against the Red Wings are not good at all.

1 - 4 - 1; 3.51 GAA; .868 Sv%

I fully expect him to rise to the challenge, but he *needs* to be better against Detroit.

Also, Reilly Smith is already putting a little pressure on his parents:

But it's a good story for the average viewer, people want more feel good stories and less violence :sarcasm:

I just hope they can put Detroit on the fence before Zetterberg comes back, Detroit is legit.... Bruins in 6 but I really don't know what to expect.

Tough match up for the B's but starts it off on the right foot where they shouldn't underestimate their opponent. Bruins are the better team and should take this series but Detroit won't make it easy and I'll be nervous the whole way.

It'll probably go 7 games because it's Boston...and Detroit. Potentially gets a tough match up out of the way early. Bruins gotta find a way to just play their game against these guys. I really think this is our year, can't blow it.

With Bishop a question mark, we'd likely need to go through Detroit and Montreal to get to the ECF. Yay President's Trophy!

Bruins in 6.

I don't get why everyone is petrified. Weak D, Howard is average. They're all injury prone.

They won't survive our offensive depth and physical play.

Bruins finish with the best record in the NHL and people are scared of the 8th place team? This isn't your father's red wings. This is a mediocre team that is well coached and relied heavily on PPs and loser points to make the playoffs.

I voted Bruins in 5, but it might be 6.

Red Wings are a good team, and they match up well. But plain and simple, this is the playoffs. The physicality and intensity that this Bruins team brings come playoff time will be much too much for the Wings.

In Tuukka's defense one of those games was the embarrassing blow out right before Christmas.

Most of the other games have been pretty close.

Think defensively this is one of the tougher match ups.

The Bruins need puck possession and a lot of shots in goal.

Yes. The best I can say about this match up -- which I would have preferred to avoid -- is that the B's generally need a challenge. They do poorly against teams they have no history with or don't dislike. The entire organization respects the Wings, so they should be up for it.

An excellent series, a long one, and devoid of cheap crap.

PS This pits me against all three of my brothers, having grown up in the Detroit area. Oy!
