OF COURSE he's signed with SKA and not one of the more amenable orgs zzz they dont even PLAY him.

Tbf basically half of Russian NHL levels prospects sign to SKA or CSKA aha. They can outbid everyone and when kids are ~16 years old and want to support family etc? A goood salary to play MHL is a big driving factor... alongside the whole playing for a massive club thing.

Heck, Khusnutdinov was signed to SKA for SIX years before the mid-season trade to Sochi. He must have been clapping his hands as knew Sochi would be amenable to buy-out of his final year when SKA would not.

SKA treated Khusnutdinov pretty poorly too... after a great year last year they basically benched him to start the season.

So? Is there an actual reason to mention Michkov in this?

Probably just saying there is a possibility Michkov comes sooner.
Actually I believe his point was the exact opposite.

He’s saying that just because Sochi let this player out of his contract, don’t expect the same for Michkov. Because Michkov isn’t dealing with Sochi, he was loaned there for a year, but his contract is actually with SKA and SKA would need to be the ones to terminate his deal. And SKA has an authoritarian coach/owner who believes young players shouldn’t be leaving the KHL early.

Essentially, Seravalli knew someone would make the connection of “hey Michkov plays for Sochi too” and wanted to answer the question and get it out of the way before a bunch of people started asking.

SKA sound 10x worse than the flyers. but the flyers still are bad.

It has nothing to do with anything. Khusnutdinov's contract wasn't terminated early per se.

All expiring contracts run through the final date of the championship (April 30).
Khusnutdinov was on the last year of his contract.
Sochi didn't make the playoffs, so they terminated his contract only after he played his last game (regular season).
So 2 months early.

Ah, didn’t realize his contract was coming to an end anyway. So, it means literally nothing.

Junior players signing with CSKA/SKA has very little to do with players supporting families.
Its not like SKA pays more for junior contracts than Loko, Ak Bars, or whoever. Mostly it has to do with prestige, facilities, etc.

But players, parents and advisors appear to be getting smarter about signing with jokers like SKA. A lot less of the upper-tier young talent is coming out of CSKA or SKA.

I pray that Michov somehow escapes that shitstain of a dictatorship and finds a way to sign here next year.

The NHL doesn't have to agree to shit after what they did to Fedetov. The agreement is dead, and what better way to say f*** you to Putin, than to watch the best stars escape the country.

As a side note, has anyone seen @CSKA1974 recently? Is he safe?

I would love it if he came over early.

How real is the threat to his family if he does? Is it something we exaggerate in the West, or is it a legitimate concern? Does it apply to anyone fleeing a Russian contract, or only those with some level of profile?

I can't imagine these are easy decisions.

What Michkov has to deal with in Rotenberg... I mean, the man clearly has problems.
Are you saying he will or won't get loaned out next season?
Flyers should try and find a way to loan him to the NHL.
Kolosov went the other way...

He very likely plays top six for SKA next year. He will be a Flyer in summer 2026. Maybe even at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Just Rotenberg has an ego 10x the size of the man he is... rich boy playing games.

The only way he comes over early is if he buys out his own contract, which might only happen if he is sent to SKA again next year. The Flyers and the NHL aren't going to sign someone who is still under contract after raising a fuss over Fedotov.
