I hate Fall Out Boy so much.

Always, yes. This year? So much worse.

It's just an absolute pile of salt in the fresh wound to have to watch this team flounder around for however long... go to commercial break... and then have that dreck blare me back in to the ****show game. Ugh.

If it makes you feel any better, they apologized for that "Centuries" song, or whatever it's called. I know it doesn't make me feel better.

If we make the playoffs.....

....which is a big IF right now, I'd like to float the following ideas:

a) Replace Adams with Rust or Megna.
b) Swap Chorney for Dumoulin assuming Ehhoff isn't back first. Even replacing DP with Dumo is probably wise at this stage.

c).....and most crazily, at least give some thought to bringing Sundqvist or Kapanen over to replace Kunitz on the Top 6. We know that Kunitz doesn't any gas left in the tank at this point, but one of those two might be able to catch lightning in a bottle. At the very least, they at least have the legs to keep up, which alone is an improvement on #14, and a breath of fresh air would be good for Malkin or Crosby.

I saw their apology. I still hate that stupid song.

Sugar...if you don't like Fall Out Boy...you're only gonna go down swinging.

10 years later and Fall Out Boy is still annoying

A friend of mine used to play in a band and I got the displeasure of meeting the members of Fall Out Boy before anyone knew who the **** they were. This is like 10-plus years ago now. Bunch of extraordinarily socially awkward, angsty dummies. The bass player was a total schmuck, too. Lost his gear before a gig and begged to borrow my friend's equipment.

Hmmm. So you don't like aural assault? Who'd a thunk?

And Coach... that's pretty amazing, honestly. I play in a couple of bands. Bass players tend to be a little slow, sometimes. But I have no idea how a person could simply LOSE their whole rig. Or even a part of it. That's like something out of Spinal Tap.

I think their trailer got broken into or something. I don't really remember, all I know is that this little angsty dude with the stereotypical "scene" hair and mascara came up to my buddy begging to use his gear for their set.

Musicians are weird, man. I used to run a music studio with aforementioned bass player friend and the kind of people that come into studios... Good lord.

I was basically either babysitting kids from extraordinarily rich families who thought they were rock stars, or trying to make sure the older dudes trying to relive their glory days didn't kill themselves with alcohol/drugs.

Ah, well... yeah... if it was stolen, that's different. That's unfortunately all too common. And really sucks. Musical equipment (even mid-tier) costs a goddamned mint.

And yes... we're an odd lot. Some of us a hell of a lot more than others.

And yes... this is also all too common. Both things. The spoiled brats with 50K worth of gear, a ten cent head, no talent but plenty of empty attitude are pretty much the worst.

Yeah. I could go on for hours about the kind of burnouts who I'd have to kick out and send a bill to their parents after they kicked holes in the walls or spilled beer all over the amps/heads.

Guys, we're boned.

Malkin isn't even worth Hall and apparently all Crosby + Fleury can fetch is Nino, Coyle, Zucker and some garbage!

Pack it up, move the team to Vegas, where the use of Vegas Gold will finally make some sense.

Las Vegas Rollers here we come!

Decided to make a pit stop over to TSN's website, because I'm a sucker for punishment and enjoy being reminded as to how terrible my team is....anyways, they posted a video of their panel discussing how bad the Pens season has gone, how they got to this point, and how there might need to be a serious shakeup this season. They brought up some great points we can all agree with:

1) The need to get rid of the old guard (Kunitz, Scuderi, and Martin more specifically)

2) MJ's been making some bad line combo decisions. Particularly singling out the decision to use guys like Comeau and Winnik on the first line over someone like Perron.

One point they made really bothered me however: the INJURY EXCUSE.

YEs, we lost a lot of man-games AGAIN this season, but be that as it may, this is not the first time we've encountered an injury-riddled season and have still managed to rise above it. It's gotten to the point where that excuse has really gotten played. The realities regarding these shortcomings need to be stripped down to their bare bones.

This for two reasons. In the past under Disco Dan the team managed to overcome injuries and still win. Whether it was D men or forwards they found a way. That one year Crosby and Malkin missed significant time the team changed its style of play and managed to do relatively well despite missing them. The second reason is that this is the first season in god knows how long where there wasn't significant injuries to core players. This has been one of Crosby's healthiest seasons, at least in terms of Games Played, and Letang's as well... until recently. Even when the whole core was healthy it just wasn't up to par of past seasons. The man games lost is also inflated by Dupuis and Maatta.

It really is beyond frustrating how depleted the D core is considering the past 5-6 drafts. They've managed to turn an area of strength into a gongshow.

I don't think I want a single free agent to come back. Maybe Winnik.

Which is a problem, because half our freaking team are free agents. And with a tepid at best pipeline and no draft picks this year, what do we do?

The obvious answer is to dip into free agency again, but have you seen the prospective list? What, are we going to replace Comeau, Lapierre and Downie with Martin Erat, Tomas Kopecky and Kyle Brodziak?

I want at least Sundqvist and one other rookie forward on the team, guys like Farnham and Rust should have the chance to win a spot to as well as Wilson and Rust.

I think highly of Sundqvist and Kapanen and to a lesser extent Rust and Wilson and similar guys. But I mean... yeah... that's not much to hang your hat on. I would rather roll with someone... anyone... down on the farm over like... Adams, of course. But we're not talking one guy. We're talking most of a bottom six along with the usual, seemingly permanent, holes in the top six.

I really feel like they are going to have to swing a pretty big deal or two just to recoup assets to do... anything... with. But who? Everyone has movement clauses out the ass, sucks or both. No picks. No prospects the team can spare in a trade to bring in help... or at least meaningful help.

And the free agency pool! My god, man. I didn't realize...

Pens should dip into some KHL talent like that Panarin kid who's the Patrick Kane of the KHL, go find a few more guys, play our young guys from WBS. The rest from trades or FA and take a hit for the year watching what we have. Shed our useless garbage somehow, and clean up this mess. NO QUICK FIX! Give Perron to Malkin and Panarin. Give BB to Crosby and Hornqvist.

I'm all for bringing back Downie. I think he brings something that this team actually NEEDS, and he's a pretty damn good hockey player in his own right. I'd also be kinda open to the idea of bringing back Comeau on a 2 year deal, but only at a cap hit of less than 2 million, and only if he were to be used PROPERLY (bottom 6). Aside from that however, all the other impending UFA's can take a walk.

Something can likely be done with a deal revolving around Sutter as the centerpiece. He still has some value. I think Spaling can be a servicable, if unspectacular 3C for a year. Sundqvist should be given the chance at 4C, and Rust a shot at a bottom 6 role as well.

Though I'll get flogged for suggesting it, if you want to move one significant piece for futures to rebuild around, that piece is Letang. We still have enough D depth where if the right pieces come back, it's still doable.

We can't trade Letang. Despres is gone, we are unsure if Maatta will regain top form, Pouliot is still a work in progress, Dumo is unknown, Scuderi sucks, Lovejoy sucks.
