This isn't the math at all, because you skipped a step. Ignoring the escalator, a $4.8b revenue would give you a $89m cap. $4.8b (HRR) / 2 (50/50 split) / 31 (teams) = midpoint. Then the cap is 15% over the midpoint.

I'd double check that. 4.8/2 = 2.4 2.4/31= 77. Which was above the cap for that year, but is the general logic of how the cap is set, but I did not mention anything about the mid-point or the escalator.

NHL hockey-related revenue has never been $4.8b.

The midpoint is set first... cap and floor are both calculated after that.
