Just when you think it's easy to bad mouth Maclean he goes and dresses in Victoria Cougars merch. People forget that BC had another other team that won the Stanley Cup.

I wonder what Victoria Senators, Aristocrats, and Canaries sweaters look like.
We just don't celebrate this team enough. It's like the Millionaires are the only ones we had. New Westminster had a PCHA team but we don't acknowledge them either.
---
I see Ron's fashion sense is less as an advertisement for merch and more an ad for Victoria. A reminder of the city's legacy as former champions by the powers in charge there.

I personally love the light blue color scheme it’s just so clean and elegant. Would love to see a Victoria cougars styled jersey.

Fans are so blinded by the "Cup or bust" insanity that they've convinced themselves that the Millionaires must have done something great because the trademark of the Stanley Cup is attached to it. They won a three-team league with 17 games (with highly limited talent levels), and then two playoff games.

The Canucks do more than that in their most average seasons.

Disagree vehemently. Millionaires had hockey's first superstar, Cyclone Taylor, and there would not be a player of his caliber until Bobby Orr. They then went on to be the NHA's Ottawa Senators.

But we should talk about the Cougars more. Or how about the New Westminister Royals only ever played in the Denman Arena. They never actually played in New West?

I'm referring to the fact that they were drawing from a very limited pool. No Europeans, virtually no Americans, etc. It was the nichest of the niche back then.

It's too bad that the Detroit Red Wings have never acknowledged their Victoria Cougars roots.
To be fair, it isn't technically the same team. The owners just employed a lot of the same players with their new team. It's a bit closer to the North Stars-Sharks than the North Stars-Stars.

The Patrick Bros, who had this crazy idea of three periods, blue lines, and gasp the invention of the forward pass. American Football wouldn't have the forward pass for another 14 years.
You can make the argument of lack of skill in any era. In chess Magnus Carlson > Garry Kasparov > Bobby Fischer > Mikhael Bottvinik > Jose Raul Capablanca > William Steinitz > Paul Morphy, etc. Are we better today then 80's hockey, the goon era, or the original 6 era?

regarding the Detroit Red Wings/Cougars, you are right for sure. It technically isn't actually the same team, even though they bought a lot of the player's contracts, but for some reason the they named the team after them.

Why is the asshole still on tv? Just like Brian Williams he won’t go away.

Pay James Duthie to take his spot. if that doesn’t work David Amber is better.
