I have never been close enough to hear the train roar. In the early 1970s in Ohio, I saw the sky turn black, which did not bother me. Then it turned green like an ocean, and down the basement I went with my transistor radio! The sky isn't supposed to turn dark green.
When I lived in west Texas, the sky would turn an odd shade of green during hail storms. The hail out there can get up to the size of softballs/grapefruits.

During a tornado in, I think 1974, we had hail the size of baseballs. I'm sure it did damage but my sister and I were outside collecting them. I'm also sure my father was right there with us, ha! He took photographs of them next to a yardstick for proof at the time, but I have no idea where they are now. We kept them in the freezer til they evaporated and then we had frozen grass all over there.

My mother is a saint to have put up with the three of us.
